Found on a recently sodded field in Northern Virginia, usa.





I'm thinking they are subbs. However I'm curious about the waviness of the caps, especially in the younger specimens. Now im not talking about wavy in terms of horizonal waving, that I know is common in older subbs, I mean the waving around the circumferance of the margin, that can be seen by looking directly down on it, im not sure how to put it but i think you can see if from the pics.  Is this something that you'll have seen in your subbs or is this not a subb? if not then what might it be? :smile:

spores look jet black to me.

they are subbs.

MJShroomer has commented several times that subbs do not grow in hot weather. It's been pretty damn hot here lately, mid-90's and such, so is it possible that these aren't subbs based upon that criteria? what has been your alls experience?
