check out these crazy ass shrooms that were growing on cardboard in my compost, does anybody know what they are

Looks like some kind of jelly thing. Probably edible, but without my handy Audobon book I can't say for sure.

Look like a cup fungus (Peziza sp?) of some kind. Cool to look at, but probably better not eaten. Some species cause illness, none taste good. I've eaten the "orange peel" cup Aleuria aurantia & it tasted like the wet gravel in which it grew. Yours probably taste just like wet cardboard!
