syringe solution darkness
    #448334 - 11/05/01 10:08 PM (22 years, 3 months ago)

im going to innoculate some jars tomorrow but im nervous that the syring i have is very dilute. from pictures and from people ive talked to my impression is that the solution is to be somewhat purplish or at least not transparent. mine is pretty much trasnparent, i can see a little purple residue on one spot but that dosent shake loose into the liquid. i got it from sporeworks. should i be worried?

Spores are microscopic. You cant see them until they are in large solutions. Vendors dilute there syringes to get more "bang for there buck", or, "more syringes from their prints" in this case. Its ok, dark purple syringes are overkill anyways.

Dark syringes are a waste of spores. People say, it increases colonization speed, well it doesn't really. If you have a purplish residue, that means there are more than enough spores in them. Every clump you can see is actually hundreds of thousands of spores.
