HELP! I have always been interested in hunting mushrooms, but I have to admit that I'm not very knowledgeble. I recently stumbled upon some very nice Amanitas growing uder a fir tree in Portland, OR. I can't seem to find much info about this species though. Do edible Amanitas grow in Pac NW? Can anyone help?
You can find some good info on the shroomery about Amanitas...was your amanita a muscaria? those would be the ones to do, however, Amanitas are NOT like psilocybe and can be harmful if not done right. They are also not a party drug. Please research before you attempt to do them. do not just eat them either, they would need to be boiled or actually simmer low for 20 minutes...it is also said that the potency varies and is less potent at the end of the season, but I am not really sure about that. Hope this helps.:)
