Yea, that works.

Main thing that is most important, is to make sure that you don't get the water simmering too much. Just a slow simmer and don't let very many seeds bust open.

WBS Test.

If you can squeeze the seed lightly and make it burst, then it's at MAX CAPACITY - That's all you need.

Soaking 30 hours gets that capacity.

It doesn't need simmering.

Popcorn and rye are the Main ones that should be simmered

I don't know.

My jars seem to be drying out after they reach about 50% and I don't know why.  I only soak for ~30.... no simmer.

I am going to try both soaking and simmering now to see if that helps.

It's probably something to do with air exchange...

That or your TiT is to dry and is sucking out moisture...

What do you use as a lid?

Yeah I definitely plan to simmer, unless it's not necessary. I plan to use a casing layer of http://www.tennstud.com/catalog/item/1676047/1184508.htm ...will that require simmering or will that be bad for it?

Lol.

That's rdy to go....

WBS doesn't need to be simmered.

Agar covered this a long time ago....

Simmer if you want, but it's most def. not necessary.

Even if I'm only soaking 12-14 hours as opposed to 24?

For air exchange I have been using agar's method...

I have tried two holes, and one hole in the lid. My TiT is always between 60-80% humidity. It has water condensation on it if I have a lot of jars in it. I keep the lid on the TiT and cover with a thermal blanket at all times.

The only thing I haven't really given a fair shot is using polyfil instead of tyvek on my jar lids.

I don't think it hurts to simmer. I've read some that only soak for a few hours and then simmer with success. Hell, look up Anno's method. No soak, no simmer.

I am currently simmering on med-med-hi heat for about 20 minutes then I'm looking for exploded shells.

Once my jars are pc'd can i put em in a shoe box in my room? (the same conditions for incubation...stays about 80-85?) until my syringe arrives?

I recommend- if possible, leave them in the Pressure Cooker until your syringe arrives. It will definitely stay sterile in there. A shoe box might not be a good idea. I also use a Rubbermaid type tub that has been wiped out good with bleach water. You need to create a sterile environment for them to stay in.

Also, keep the foil on until you knock em up.

Also, deleting your original thread- just because you are finished with that step does not help others out very much that are looking for answers that had the same questions as you.

Sorry, I guess that is kind of selfish of me.  I'll definitely think before I delete a post next time.  :frown:

I thought you were trying to save the time of people who are answering questions here, which would technically be an un-selfish move which you should be commended for, but I agree, if everyone deleted threads after the questions are answered there wouldn't be anything for noobs to read but teks.
