Safeway have tupperware containers that are 250ml/350ml widemouth jars...They are perfect, and as they are plastic they are easy to clean your ramsey seal edges and pressure cook no problems...

Thank's bluemeanie, Just wondering if you do lids the same as the two piece metal lids. ie drilling holes for innoculation, air exchange, Will they handle heat from sterilization. Everything i've read involved glass and as i'm a newbie i don't want to stuff-up. Thank's again for your help.

I think all the silverbacks (old people) are in full force right now buying all the jars, canning shit from there garden. Last week I went looking for 3 dozen and after no luck, I had to drive to a city in the next state to find some. Sadly, i'm still a dozen short.

The jars im talking about are 100% plastic and they are flat. I get a nail and push five holes in the lids (one in the centre) and then tape these up, fill with substrate, clean the edges then fill with dry verm, screw lid on lose and PC for an hour...then after cooling, i pull the tape off, innoculate all five holes, then cover with alcohol swabs... then eventually i case 'em, then eat em...:-)

I had problems finding jars in Sydney. I gave up! I use normal glass jars instead. There are 2 that I recommend: * The jars from a 350ml "Leggo's Stir through Pasta sauce". The glass is very thick and the lid has many threads. * The jars from Fruitopia fruit juice. Using ordinary jars is much cheaper than buying from overseas, even if you have to throw contents. 1 jar of pasta sauce is about $2.00. 10 jars is enough start with.

That depends what's in it! I use whole wheat substrate. I just shake it up until it breaks up into small grains, and then pour it out.
