storage of jars in the fridge? Polyfill lids - Problems help
    #4328975 - 06/23/05 02:54 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

Alright I have 13 quart jars that were fully colonized. I am using plastic lids with a 1 inch hole in it for the polyfill. I inoculated and incubated with success. I wasnt ready to use them though so I read in the MC that you just throw them in the fridge. Well now I have what looks like green to blue green crap in the jars. What happened? I know that my old house has a mold problem but I had no problems till they were in there. what should I do.
Get them there own fridge? re-cover the polyfill with foil?

For future storage, cover the tops with a few layers of saran wrap, and secure with a tight rubber band. This should keep all the bad guys out of your substrate, it's always worked for me. Make sure the Poly Fill is tight too.

Pitch the moldy substrate.

Fridges can contain a lot of nasty stuff, give it a good clean.
