any success with outdoor patch using old brf cakes?

I was wondering if anyone has evey tried to do an outdoor patch with some old pf cakes after a couple of flushes? I'm going on my second flush with some brf cakes and i'm planning on trying an outdoor patch after this. Has anyone had any success doing this?
