Which one is a Sub, if any?
    #4314769 - 06/19/05 08:44 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Southern Ontario, Fertilized lawn, found these mushrooms, generally all growing in groups. I'm hoping one will be a pan sub. Sorry, i don't have a sporeprint on them yet, but I am making about 8 of them as we speak, and I will scan them and post them tommorow sometime, if your lucky, in the morning. From what I hear, brown print means panaeolina foe, and black means either a) Pan sub, or b) Anything in the Panaeolus genus. My money is on the ones under letter A being pan subs, but im not getting my hopes up. They are all very small (no bigger than oh, say, 8cm), and are pretty similar, but I separated the similar ones based on petty differences. Hope you can help. For now just tell me if the letter A's look like Sub's and wait till I post the spore print to tell me for sure. Thanks.

P.S.
Notice the whitening on the edges of the large specimen in letter A? I remember reading a post saying that was a sure sign of a pan sub.

P.P.S.
I am not counting on the letter F's to be anything, I just thought i'd throw them in just in case.

P.P.P.S.
The only difference between letter D and letter A is that the caps of letter D are more round/perfect than the ones in letter A. They are more even and consistent, and they do not have as noticable of a peak in the centre.

P.P.P.P.S.
Many of them, including the ones in letter A, appear to have a white mold growing at the bottom of the stem that doesnt show up well in the photo. Are these mycelium? or mold? or bruising?

P.P.P.P.P.S.
yes, I am a newbie

That "white mold" is mycelium. I'm guessing those 'pan subbs' are just pan foes. The stems are not like the subbs. But, if for some reason any of those are subbs, i'd guess they were A and C. But, i highly doubt that they are subbs.

You'd have better luck looking for Subbs in horse dung.
