I have not found any that did not have black prints either. We must be a lucky bunch.
I thought that the cooler weather had stopped them, but we got a little rain last night and this morning there was a new flush.
I am trying to get as many as I can before the cold shuts them off. I can only get about 1 or 2 grams dry per flush off of my two patches.
However, I've tried them twice now and they are definitely worth the effort.

Sometimes about half will turn blue at the base. Only the mycelium that clings to the base will turn. Some other times none of them turn blue. Sometimes the bases are already bright blue when you pull them out of the grass.
Bluing in these mushrooms is not very consistent at all.
Print all of them until you know without a doubt what you have just by looking. They also have a distinct smell/taste.
When they are dry they kind of smell like mushrooms mixed with dogs feet.

Dude, if you wanna know anything and almost everything about hunting and finding subbs you REALLY need to see my guide.
There's a link in my Profile info to access it.
You should see it an inch or two below.

I've read your guide. I think I know all I need to know about the subbs around here. Did I somehow give the impression that I don't know about subbs?

I know I don't know everything but, at least all those hours of reading and wet tennis shoes weren't for naught.

cool.
I found a foe in another part of town today, and I knew right away it wasn't a subb.
I don't know if it's just attention to detail or what, but I've been able to pick them out pretty consistently. The only ones I've picked that I wasn't sure were subbs actually were, but had strange stems with less twisting and the caps were more bell shaped than dome shaped, but I think that was due to immaturity. They still printed black, but didn't drop heavy spore deposits. They probably would have been a bit bigger had I seen them a day later, but I'm seizing the moment here... I know they may not be around much longer, and I missed them in the spring and early summer because I was busy with my mulch cube finds, and it has been too hot and dry up until the past few days for them, I believe. I have noticed they don't like shade...
I did blenderize a handful and plan on spreading the solution around the 'hood a bit to try and get some more before it gets too cool, and to establish next spring's crop hopefully. I also wanna get some hay and hpoo and try to get some cultivated from spores collected while printing.
I love having right of easement due to my job, too. I find them in all kinds of places. Found one at an apartment complex today, but it was lonely... maybe it's friends will show up soon if it rains again.
