with any luck, my pet mongoose will be drying some shrooms in the next couple of weeks from some good looking casings.. now he was wondering a couple of things: 1. he heard that epsom salts could be used in drying. does anyone know how to do this? 2. lacking that, where is the best place to get cheap bulk dessicant that works well? (hopefully within a week or two) thanks much everyone.

Go to Wal Mart and I'm pretty sure that there or at Home Depot, you can get real Dessicant, like Damp Rid or Damp B Gone.

I use the epsom salt method and it works really, really good. All u do is bake the epsom salt for 30-45 min. @ 400 degrees, let it cool, and break it up into small pieces.

yeah, it's used exactly like any other dessicant......u put it in a drying chamber. I still think epsom salt is the best cuz you never have to buy more......just rebake and start the process over!

Pouches tried using the epsom salt as a dessicant a couple days ago...he ended up having to throw out the shrooms in that chamber because they all rotted. He baked the salt at 400 for an hour...then the next day after no sign of progress, he baked it over again for over an hour. Three days later, the chamber smelled raunchy and most of the mushies had places where they were looking black and green - and not at all dry. Damp Rid sucks ass too...its back to Drierite for my pet kangaroo

Did you fan dry them first? Let them fan dry for a day first. Deccisants are only to get them cracker dry, use fans to get the bulk of the water out of it.
