I'll cut to the chase, my friend got some PDA it's premixed powder containing
Potato Infusion (Dehydrated) 4.0g
Dextrose 20.0g
Agar 15.0g
(For Laboratory Use Only)
Says this makes one litre - is this accurate? I would assume so!
My friend's main question though is how long should this be PC'd at 15psi for? Can it be done for an hour while sterilizing rye? Any responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks folks

the TMC says 30 min. at 15psi and to not let the temp. get over 250 deg. f hope this helps

Prolonged sterilization at 15 psi converts agar to sugar and the resulting medium will not gel. How fast the conversion takes place depends on the pH. Agar breaks down in rapidly in acid media and PDA is an acid medium so an hour sterilization would be too long.
