Hmmmm. I have been using an almost sugar free extract that is really growing well. The only prob with it is it's color. It's a bit dark. But the growth is really increasing everday. No signs of bacteria at all.

its probably not karo that is giving you contams its somwhere in the preparation or the incubation of the culture I use karo all the time and Im not even carefull with it I have never had a contam from it.

I use a flowhood, sterilized tweezers to pull out a bit of myc from the inside of a stem that's peeled open, etc... I have no idea what the hell is going wrong at all.
