Poo spawns in rubbermaid fruiting chamber...perlite needed?

If you have two casings of poo substrate, in aluminum containers in a rubbermaid fruiting chamber, do you need perlite on the bottom or do you just mist the insides regularly?

You can try a thin layer of perlite or hydroton, or you can also stick a cup of water in there with an air hose making bubbles in it. Get a hygrometer and measure the RH :smile: Some people fruit in the same container as their cakes (95-100% RH) and do well. You just have to experiment :smile:

I just had a problem with this actually. I had a roasting pan that took up about 1/2 the space on the bottom of a normal Rubbermade. No casing.. and no perlite (followed directions from someone). It didn't do SHIT.. actually turned dry. I added perlite, and casing.. doing fine now!!

Moral of the story.. you might not need perlite if you have both cased. Everyones experiance is different. Get yo'self a hydrometer.

Okay, there will be two 11
x9" (4"deep) aluminum baking trays used, filled with about 3 inches of spawn (poo/colonized BRF/10% verm) covered in an inch or so of 50/50 verm/peat.

There will be about 2 inches of perlite and 1 inch of 90/10 water/peroxide put in the bottom, and it will be misted down from time to time as needed if the inside walls seem to be drying.
