Need help making Fruiting Chamber!

I'm going at my second try in cultivating shrooms. The first time I found the few mistakes that led me to an astronomical yeild of 0. I think my biggest mistake may be my fruiting chamber. It's very "ghetto"... a fairly large rubbermaid container, layered with perlite on the bottom, and a heating pad underneath to keep it at temps of about 70 - 75. I have a light strung up to the top of the container to help the lil' poops along. What I really want is a more advanced reliable fruiting chamber, and any tips or pics or anything that would inprove the chances of getting at least 3 shrooms, I would be very happy.

It sounds like you did things right. Are you sure it didn't get hotter than 75 degrees? I would think at this time of year, no extra heat is needed, assuming you live in the Northern Hemisphere. Was the perlite wet? Did you fan 2 - 3 times a day? Did you wait for invitro pins to form?

going all out on a fruiting chamber will just misdirect you! focus on the other issues of cultivation and keep it simple and cheap when building your chamber, the extra cash can be spent on supplys like a flow hood, jars and pitris. peace

Hi shroomers
I want to try growing these b4 summers out, what about putting a couple plants inside your mush room? That's what i'm gonna do (or try anyway); they would suck up all the CO2 (as long as there's light to photosynthesize) maybe you would'nt even need to fan? Also what about using a hydrogen peroxide/water solution for misting and just in general, maybe the extra oxygen molecule (water-h20 peroxide-h202) helps the mushrooms/mycelium to breathe? Just a thought, i'd love to hear any feedback.

Many people get along just fine with a chamber equal to yours, sometimes even less. You should figure out where you flubbed your first effort, and follow the tech your using to the T, not innovations your first time around, after that feel free to experiment.
If you want a higher tech chamber do this, get one of those plastic fish aquariums for little kids, drill a hole for air intake and a hole for the to go out. Put perlite in the bottom with water, and put a filter patch over the air exit. Hook a fish tank bubbler to the intake, with air tube, and put your casing or cakes in there. Pretty simple, and it allows for 100% human hands free environment. But again try something simplier first, like the poor mans terr. from the mmgg or something along those lines.

Well I would recommend the neglect tek, where the cakes are left in the original jars just flipped with the air holes open. These require only heat and occasional lighting. It does not produce extreme yields but if you are looking to feed a few people then its great. I just recently used this method and I had a few pins in under a WEEK, this also suprised me.
To placing a plant in the terrerium may pose some problems, such as the light required, not only that shrooms may let off a low level of CO2 while the plant needs a high level of it. (depends what plant).
