"i post stuff near to me, I lay my heart on the table, and the disect it before my still living eyes. I talk of beliefs of living life well in my eyes, and when I use the words god they jump down my throat" ~ another member's comments in regard to his s&p thread you dominate, Swami.

This is a reader's emotional response, no different than the prohibitionist's over-reaction. This is not evidence of an ad hominem like you promised.

That's a pretty bold claim since the rest of your post is in reply to a post directed at Swami.

My post was in responce to a post.

right...to Swami

Let's take a look at the question in question.

Quote:
Do you agree no spiritual advancement has broken thru here since you've been a regular, Swami?

That's what you asked.

Do you not expect others to pipe up if in fact they HAVE seen spiritual advancement take place due to or in spite of Swami?

I do so enjoy how you ignore the majority of my post and instead decide to argue over whether I had the right to make a post or not. As I have said, I would never consider silencing the opinions of others, no matter if I agree or disagree with their position, so long as they are discussing ideas and beliefs.

You are failing to do so -- and instead attacking the right of certain members to post their beliefs. Can you not see how selfish, how narrow-minded you are acting?
Again I wonder how you would react if I were to claim that you posting your beliefs and ideas were cramping my spiritual growth. Would you not view the very concept as ridiculous, as my own ego lashing out at a differing viewpoint?

My suggestion to you would be to cease this line of argument, and examine your motivations for a good long while. Why do you feel the need to attack a view contrary to your own -- why do you feel the need to silence a dissident opinion.
I would also suggest you read the part of my responce that you cut off in your quote -- that by posting a public message, all users are free to throw their two cents into the mix, and that I consider myself free to respond to anything posted by anyone which, upon reading, sparks something in my mind that I feel like posting. I believe everyone here is free to do the same, no matter to what they are responding; such is the price of a free and open discussion, and to do elsewise, in my opinion, would suffocate discussion and the spiritual growth you claim to be championing.

Let's understand this:

If I (or another) pout and quit S&P forever because of your posts, then I (or they) become crippled Spiritually? TRUE or FALSE

A spiritually mature person is responsible for his or her emotions and actions? TRUE or FALSE

First off, why are you unable to answer my simple one-word response questions. Are they difficult or is it fear?

I don't know anothers' path but my intention isn't to make anyone leave.
Your intention is to get me to change into something you find more desirable. How would making me a clone of you advance the community spiritually? Should we ALL seek to change others instead of focusing on ourselves? This attitude is THE MAJOR SOURCE of the world's problems. Try to see THAT!

Do any of you really feel like you can advance spiritually by reading a forum? Do you really feel like your spirituality RESTS ON THE SHOULDERS of someone on a computer on the other end of the world, posting in S&P, either agreeing or disagreeing with an idea that you can put into words? If those concepts have anything to do with your personal defenition of spirituality then god DAMN am I glad I'm not in your shoes.

And YES, I posted in the thread about having this forum help advance my spirituality. But it was all because of friendly banter. It made me THINK differently, to combat things I took for granted, and from that I learned for myself.

The sheer idea that Swami, or ANYBODY, could be responsible for spiritual advancement or NON-advancement in such a defenite way is purely asinine. This is a forum for ideas to be bounced around and talked about. Nobody is going to discover their own personal God or whatever from a forum. Spirituality grows through life and experience.

And picking apart organized religion and faith has absolutley no relevance to spirituality.

oneness consists of those who would be one and move ahead as one, not those who wish to remain in doubt and skeptism, no offense.
_____________________________________________________________________

What nonsense! If oneness is what we all are and if we are all God/whatever your terminology. Then you don't get to throw out the people you don't like. Or won't play the game your way. You have one of the biggest ego trips goin I've seen in awhile here.

You remind me of the religious people I had to suffer as a child.

I'm still hoping they will.

The bottom post on page 3. Perhaps you missed it -- I think that is the post you're looking for.

Quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They are posting against another's belief. I am reiterating the same point here. This needly banter is unproductive and wasteful.

No.
They are posting a critique of another's belief, or pointing out what may be a flaw or a hole in that belief.

I do not recall ever seeing a post stating "OMG you stupid christian/hindu/alienist/hippy, stop posting your drivel, it's cramping my vibe".

Very different situations -- you are not challenging any beliefs, here, you are challenging the RIGHT TO HOLD AND DISCUSS those beliefs.

Quote:
It would be greatly appreciated if you read my posts before you try wasting my time again to make the same points made hours ago. Please post intelligently.

As I believe you've already been told, putting a smiley smiley after a personal attack does not make it any less of a personal attack.
I would never claim that someone is too stupid to understand what I am trying to say, as you just have done. I would rather try to re-explain myself and my position, so as to hopefully make it more clearly understandable. Failing that, I would try again and again rather than blame the lack of comprehension on the stupidity of those who read me.
It's something I learned way back when I was but in elementary school, and decided to teach my younger sister math far ahead of what she was doing in school. Of course she didn't understand multiplication at first -- but her lack of understanding was not her fault, as it would be years before it would be taught to her. No, rather than insult her intelligence, I decided to explain the concept a second, or third, time, until I had given the examples and explanation that led to her understanding the concept.

Perhaps you should do the same. Rather than consider yourself infallable, perhaps you should try to explain your position a second time, if you are being misunderstood. You see, that way, you would not need resort to a personal attack on my intelligence.
