Umm schizophrenic forum or what?

What the phuck are you guys talking about. From what I've gathered on this forum, most of you are clinically insane. Do you really believe you can be abducted and probed, that this actually happens and its not some sort of a dream? I can see the spiritual part of this forum... meditation and all that. Even God, I understand the basic concept of this. But alien abductions and 4th dimension beings? Come on now you can't truly believe in that crap?
Im all about tripping and stuff but lay off the drugs people, you have gone loopy.
Keep in mind this is not intended as a personal bash to anybody, I am just weirded out by whats being said here. No, I am not mentally incapable of understanding this information, I am not stupid. Hell I'd even be happy to know you were all right and I was wrong, it would at least give meaning to this word.
Personaly I think it all sounds insane, literally insane.

Heh. Like I said im not trying to bash you guys but more trying to get some insight on how you can actually believe what you are saying. Funny though how your views are probably as strong to you as mine are to me. Just more of that crazy spiritual philisophical stuff

I talk to and visit with aliens, therefore I am insane. Yes.

Ok so I have thought out what I am REALLY trying to ask here.
When you say for instance you contact other beings, do you believe there are actually existing beings outside of your mind, or that you make contact with things which are actually just part of your imagination, like a dream?
I would love it if these things actually existed outside of our imagination but I can't bring myself to actually believe in it. Dreams to me are simply subconscious interpretation of the existing world around us. If I were to ever contact another being, or sense a presence, I would only be able to truthfully believe it is a figment of my imagination.
Maybe someday my views will change, and honestly I hope they do, but for now you are all, to me, insane

I don't know what to believe. I suspect they exist, but how can I prove that? Take a hair sample or something? They could very well be something of an archetype of my mind... but the fact that I talk to others after my own experiences and they tell me things that "resonate" eerily with the things that have happened to me, I start to ask myself: could it just be a coincidence?
And yes, we are all insane here. Even Swami. (don't let him fool ya)

Ok, well I will explain. Most of the people here are not insane. They may be smarter, and more open minded then your average individual, but sane none the less. They are just contemplating the ideas here. Of coarse, like with any other large group of people, there are a few wackos, but what do you expect with this many people all in the same place??

I guess we all have different points of view here. I'm not big on the alien abduction thing either, but I think it's more plausible than any religious doctrines I've heard.
This kind of post is a good way to get unpopular real fast.

Everybody is just trying to find there way home, that is why we have all come here if you realize that yet or not, you should bless the guy, he has realized that something with the regards to the world he sees around him does not fit, an overlooked truth. I bet we all kinda felt a bit like him at first and i guess unfortunatley some of us here have not found themselves yet, hey i was close to suicide, now i reside in bliss.

Not one person I've ever met in the real world has EVER seen aliens while tripping (at least 100 people). Then around early 2000 here on the Shroomery, the alien BS starts flooding in and damn near EVERYBODY has an alien experience. Methinks the rave culture had something to do with that (hit the local headshop for evidence).
Of course, I'm just an asshole trying to plug his own brand of triperience. Actually... no, I'm not. I'm not selling anything. I don't even own a soapbox. I'm just the village not-idiot that runs around wasting his time dispelling notions of a fantastical reality.

Very well said. It is very important to be extremely open minded. You should have your beliefs, but exersise your right to contemplate far-fetched ideas, because there is so much we dont know, any idea could have some sort of value. What do you think someone would think about a human flying back in the middle ages?? Probably the same as you think about the aliens. We have airplanes now, and we can fly. I'f someone would have said that a few hundred years ago, they would be burnt at the cross. You see what I mean?? You should never be 100% sure of reality, and what exists in it, because even in 10000 years we will be learning new things. And come on, it's just ignorance to say we are the only life forms here on earth, and out of billions and billion of planets, we are the only intellegent life. I dont know about the abduction shit, but I do beleive that there are alien somewhere.

Non stop talk about aliens is only beneficial in the sense that it offers a model for a mutation in human evolution....first people are captured by the desire to not become a victim and in a sense they seek an answer that will enable them to truly understand their advanced captors...however if the reader thinks even more critically....he will remember that he himself has stood before advanced intelligence so remarkably surpassing his own that at first there was a remarkable communication barrier....yes all of us were lacking as children...were we not...and any adult might have been an advanced intelligence... So the next step is imitatation....as animals we imitate to understand and learn...thats how kids learn to talk...so the abductee goes from initial contact to the second level of imitating the behavior of the alien...and thats how you get extraordinary mutations like Shroomie.... On a deeper level...the first time anyone trips..this little fungus that breathes oxygen and expels carbon dioxide is bound to kick someones ass the first time...if it is a decent dosage...and from there one can start off percieving oneself as a victim but in fact being in the presence of an advanced intelligence and amazing opportunity to witness a point of view outside one's self. But what I think is so beautiful is that ...if we were to mimick the behavior of the fungi ...we would inevitably resort to parasitizing the sytem...which I think is a more proactive solution than anarchy..because anarchy wants the complete collapse of the system..whereas those modeling their behavior after the fungi think more in terms of symbiosis...we want consumerism to survive because you can grow a lot of mushrooms inside an empty 2 liter bottle....so I say keep buying pepsi and cling to your private property and whatever...because reality is simply a substrate to me......In this symbiotic fashion we can see that both alien abduction and anyones first serious trip on shrooms are as healthy and natural as standing as an infant , in front of one's parent.

Then we need to meet. I had my first experience in the 60's and it had nothing to do with drugs or culture of any kind. So do I think aliens exist? Yes, but that takes a little bit of explaining. The experiences are so intimate I do not share them publicly but I will, hopefully, in time, explain what I think they are and why I think it. If I had your life I wouldn't' think they exist either. But if you had mine (and I wouldn't wish that on anyone) you'd think differently.

But i consider my self to be saner than the average person.
Therein lies the great illusion. Almost everyone considers themselves that, along with:
"I am more intelligent than the average person."
"I am more beautiful/handsome than the average person."
"I am more open-minded than the average person."
"I am more spiritual/loving than the average person."
...and so on. I am not stating this about you specifically, just that this is very common, almost universal in fact, from the ego's perspective.

Not one person I've ever met in the real world has EVER seen aliens while tripping (at least 100 people).
Strange, certainly Maria Sabina refers to her experiences of "enormous reptiles the like of which I have never seen on earth" in the early twentieth century, Mckenna has mentioned it and Rick Strassmans work on DMT show alien contact to be common.
Perhaps no-one tells you about their experiences because they know what your reaction would be? Or perhaps they consider tripping to be going to the local macdonalds and looking at yourself in the back of a spoon. Whatever. There is no doubt that alien contact on tryptamines is a common and extensively referenced experience.

There should be a product called Alex123... "removes hardwater stains with it's amazing abrasive action!"
McDonald's only has white plastic spoons... dumbass.
McKenna wrote books. Strassman wrote a book. When they put it on the web for free, then maybe I'll reconsider their intentions. BTW, Strassman can't prove his patients weren't lying to him... or that they were mistaken. I do know this though: none of them came down to find their rectums bleeding afterward. If their were physical evidence of contact (implants etc.), Strassman would have found it.

*Cough*
In case you haven't noticed.. no one here is charging for information. I certainly don't. People tell me about their alien experiences all the time, on the internet and in 'the real world'. Now I don't know if this is because they trust me with such information, or they are just trying to appease me. But I would hope it is the former. Put yourself in their shoes... say you had very intense experiences with higher evolved beings that blew your mind. You had trouble comprehending the experience and sought others to share it with that perhaps they could relate to you and help you find insight in it. Now, would you just go around telling every person about it, knowing the type of response most people give to that sort of thing?

But my friend S&P is both for those that let it.
An asylum is a place of refuge. A place where one can feel sheltered from whatever they find abrasive. While it may be true that you feel no protection here that is not to say that others do not and rightly so.
Do you think I do not feel at peace when I am here? I feel bathed in love and protected, among my friends.
Come now Sclorch, do you not feel this, even a little, at times? I gather from your responses that you do.
It is true this is not a group encounter love fest, or at least that's not it's primary purpose. But if a type of spirit is here because of the nature of this forum would that be out of place?
Yeah, I know, you'll all big and tough and don't need that crap. You have shown a softer side at times while here.
The nonsense irritates? Why let it? There is no need to lash out at those you disagree with, ever. Even I don't feel a bond with everyone here but I do not allow that to control me or move me to action. They are as they are and it is not my place to change them. I let them be,
I let them be.

Most of those people also don't have problems differentiating between fantasy and reality. Most of those people have gone on and on about other things they experienced on their trips (one envisioned himself as Jimi Hendrix). I never discouraged their admissions... and those who had more fantastic visions didn't claim these experiences were indubitable.
The only person whom I've ever met that claimed he had encountered aliens was this schizophrenic vagrant who lives (Summer 2000) in Woodstock, NY. He made alot of other bizarre claims as well... like when he earned over $100,000 mining crystals. When I asked him what he spent all that money on, he said he gave it away.

Schizophrenic because he has delusions. Yes, I didn't see aliens doing battle over the skies of Woodstock, NY.
SCH: Some say they're headlights from the interstate... because they don't want to admit what they really are... they're alien spaceships dogfighting. ME: Really? Well, if they're fighting... then I'm sure some lose sometimes. If that's the case, then why hasn't anyone found any wreckage or crash sites? SCH: Because they're INTERDIMENSIONAL aliens... they battle in our skies so that they don't hurt anyone in their dimension. And when they crash, they crash in their dimension to keep their technology out of human hands... ME: *thinking: let it go man... let it go* *grabs a joint and starts puffin' away*
We can argue this till the end... I have the crazy fucker on video and you don't.

Nope... won't be sending you the video. Sorry. You could come see it if you like. It's just too much effort and it won't change anything.
The video isn't all that interesting... he only goes on about the power of crystals and then I cut it. I didn't have my camera ready when he was talking about the aliens. His facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice all SCREAMED insanity. It was a weird (but in the end worth it) experience.

Is that supposed to be insightful???
All we CAN judge a person by is their mask. We derive their person by observing their external behavior. Maybe YOU have some "special" insight into the workings of the brain... but not all of us have that purported (?) luxury.

I think schizophrenia is bullshit. I don't think it's a disease caused by a physical problem in the brain, I think it's what happens when you go too far back into the mind. The mind of a "schizo" never slows down so unless they'res constant external stimulation the mind/brain is forced to use memories and whatnot to form new experiences. These new experiences are strictly internal, yet they create memories, feelings, sensations, etc that seem real.
Anyone who believes what they see and think has any more importance than anyone elses thoughts and experiences is living in an illusionary world.
There are a lot of thoughts going through the minds of many people but unfortunately they're all looping around the same old box. Like a famous book says "There's nothing new under the sun." What could be more true than that?
The problem with allowing people to think on their own is that they will almost undoubtedly come to the wrong conclusion...
now i must tend to the gnome telling me to burn things.. heheheh
and yea, in case ya couldn't tell, I'm about done with being depressed and all that crap. I woke up today and I simply did not want to feel like that anymore. I'm not holding onto bullshit baggage from the past any longer... it's back there were it needs to stay =)

Medical definition of schizophrenia. Sure sounds like a disease to me.
BTW, a disease doesn't HAVE to have physical origins. I've personally witnessed many psychosomatic illnesses (while shadowing various doctors). Self-induced anxiety can lead to many problems... backpain (due to tightened muscles), headaches, depressed immune function, high blood pressure (this can fuck up MANY things), etc.

In reply to:
All we CAN judge a person by is their mask. We derive their person by observing their external behavior.
Interesting concept... now some words about this 17 yr old Shroomery wacko called cybernaut3... not all "mental illnesses" are such a bad thing...
I was born with something called high-functioning autism, or aspberger's syndrome... most of my mind was quite developmentally accelerated during my childhood, but some areas like social skills were quite delayed. I have little idea how to purposefully project any sort of "mask". I don't have much natural body language, facial expression, or voice expression, and though I have learned these things to some extent, I usually have no idea how i am coming across. It's all contrived. I sometimes get stuck on topics in perpetual but logical loop-type thinking, have one very intense intellectual obsession on a topic that changes every few years, and use a huge vocabulary in everday conversation. Lots of creativity, photographic memory, perfect musical pitch, etc. but its hard to connect with people one on one or in a group in order to effectively communicate. Albert Einstein has been posthumously diagnosed with this, and others who very likely had this include Mozart, Andy Warhol, composer Bela Bartok, inventor Nikola Tesla, cartoonist Robert Crumb, and chess player Bobby Fischer. So do many profs, intellectuals, artists, chess players, etc. We just appear eccentric and aloof, and perhaps also a little arrogant. Thanks to this wonderful genetic mutation, I get a whole hell of a lot of benefits, and the best part is that I get less and less "weird" every day. Psychedelic drugs (esp. shrooms and acid) enable me to progress at a much faster rate, even unlocking new powers of mind possessed by "normal" people that I was never supposed to be able to use. So the moral of the story is not to talk to somebody for three seconds and then write them off as a nut case, when actually they might be a rather sane sort of nutcase like me!

completely agree with you there cybernaut... my ex-girlfriends brother was autist and i have to say... RESPECT... because he was gifted... anyways i think everyones brain operates differently... some people might be better at creative tasks and some people are better at geometry and maths... other are far better at languages and alikes... everyone has his gifts, and everyone has his "slow points" or "crazy spots"... but fact is, all great minds have to hear they are insane at least once in their lives... so who's to diagnose something like that... it's like the movie "beautiful mind" ...

I was "diagnosed" with ADD when I was about 6, but I've read a lot about it and other mental illness and I believe I was misdiagnosed. my 'symptoms' are more like that of asperger's syndrome, cybernaut pretty much just described me. I don't mind it much, though I have problems with social interaction in real life, on the internet I seem to do just fine since it's just expression of ideas and not having to deal with making eye contact with people and such... but it's fine for me because I don't really desire constant social interaction. I'm perfectly happy to spend a majority of my time alone. through most of my life until a few years ago I got picked on for being "odd" (among other reasons) so now I also have some sort of social anxiety disorder or inferiority complex...or something... but I'm working on it myself and I don't think I need to see a professional (though at bad times I wonder if I should) but about schizophrenia... the symptoms can be corrected with medications, and if that's the case, isn't it more evident that it is caused by chemical imbalances and not some crazy paradigm-shift?

Maybe it's a little bit of both.

I agree with that.
Anxiety sucks, but it's a learned trait and, thankfully, it can be unlearned. I constantly compare myself to others (or, I used too. I'm much more aware of it now and simply let the bad thoughts pass through without affecting me).
I judge people unfairly and I allow myself to feel superior to others. This is probably because all through school (I mean all the way, every day, from kindergaden till I dropped out in 11th, in 6 different schools in two different states)...) I was picked on, made to feel insignificant, ignorant, etc. I don't know why I had to go through all of that, but I did and I'm now realizing that (along with countless other things) those negative experiences impacted me in a very big way.
But everyday I do a little bit to help myself get passed all of it. I'm just unconditioning my mind because I don't want life to pass me by. I'm not going to allow myself to get stuck on one way of thinking for too long.
Anyways.. I'm just blabbing on and on.. heh. Damn I feel pretty good today

I was born with AHS (ass hole syndrome) so it is not my fault when I tear threads apart. It is a perfectionist need, but I have come a long way towards my intolerance of nonsense. With the help of lots of medication, my condition has been upgraded from an asshole to just a plain-old jerk.
Science at work.
I freely admit this in the hope that with your understanding, I may get back to a 3 mushroom rating.
