What is datura?
    #4204557 - 05/21/05 09:30 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I'm sorry.. i looked on erowid first, but I dont feel like reading 30 pages of overly-scientific data when a few good summed up sentences from fellow shroomers would be better
Hows it compare to other psychadelics? what are its properties?

Thanks  :mushroom2:

Complete insanity.

I'd stay away from it... look at the experience reports on Erowid to learn more.

Datura is a hallucinogen in the truest sense, reality changes completely.

Any more in-depth information?

Is it processed? Plant? Fungus(lol)? Is it legal? Illegal? Etc?

Its a plant in the Nightshade family and its legal. People usually eat the seeds. Its been used by shamans, witches, etc in many different cultures. Since its not a pleasurable experience, no one uses it recreationally.

"I closed my eyes to escape the growing sense of panic. But when my eyelids shut, all I saw was a new room with new people. Where was I? I tried to reopen my eyes, but it only revealed another room with yet more strangers. This went on and on. I didn't know if my eyes were open or shut. I didn't know where I was, what time it was or what was happening. My panic turned into sensory collapse. Every thing bled together and I felt a deep spiraling sensation engulf me. I lost all visual capabilities, but I still had a very real sense of touch. I was trapped in a small metalic box."

It's a deliriant-type hallucinogen, unlike, say LSD. I've had friends try that stuff, and they tell me it was more a nightmare than anything....

i've done jimson weed before.. it's definitely not for everyone, and i doubt i'd do it again, but i'm not gonna say it wasn't .. well, i didn't dislike it. i'm not gonna say i enjoyed it, but it wasn't all negative. definnitely unique, not for everyone, but people with tastes like mine might dig it. it is one hell of a ride.. that trip report doesn't give the j weed justice, though

Usually I hear that datura is to be kept away from. From my friends which have tried it, each one has told me it was a nightmare. One of my friends ended up in the hospital after injesting some. If you plan to try it just make sure you research proper dosage.

perhaps it might be usefull to point out that datura is very dangerous.
regularly there are reports of some1 ending up in IC and dying
after using datura.
the required dose is very close to a lethal one so dont do this
unless u realy know what ure dealing with, and that means reading every page u can find on errowid...

Yup, deliriogen.

Very hard body high, it suck you dry and you feel like hammer hit you in head and you talk with people just to find yourself alone in a room.
Begining is very good for me because I can tell that I hallucinate... later on you are dreaming with eyes open...

Did it a couple of times and thats it.

Can be fun thou...

This is a picture from my garden. It's a Datura inoxia. This year grew up very fast and became big and strong. It's about 2 months old! She shure got all her vitamins

Finaly I cought her blooming. Very nice lemony smell. Upper left there is my Hyosciamus niger. It smells like... trash/bitter lemon/1000 needles in your nose.

I'll smell it a few times and I'll go to sleep.

No matter how much one reads about datura, he/she still won't have a clue about what's to happen. If you know anything about it, you'll know that it's not to be ingested by most people, it's a very dangerous choice. The people who do eat it properly take precise doses. There are many threads on it, just search for datura. Read some of Wiccan_Seekers post. I'm sure he's the most knowledgeable of datura on these boards.

I have a large Datura metel, it's being really fussy and i can't seem to keep it healthy atm. The leaves are curling in and falling off, any help? It's in full sun, and i water it well every day with weak fertilizer.
