i just seen it in a see through container. but it was blue and clear like silica granules. i'm not sure if it has any scent to it. i have been unable to find anything to use yet and have been drying them on a screen with no drying agent.

I use almost the same thing with "Blue Indicative Beads" to let you know when the litter needs to be COOKED

silica gels arent really a very powerful desiccant
a friend of mine pointed out to me one time that silica gels are used to keep a shoebox dry while damprid is used to dry out entire rooms, think about it...

But the kitty litter is so much cheaper, the slight decrease in absorbancy, is made up for. Really the only way to go for continual or large drying is dehydrator...but if a desiccant is to be used, this is a cheap and effective one.
Once full of moisture, it can be cooked in the oven (when the crystals change color)...then the crystals will dry out and change back. Reusable. Also a quality damprid doesnt have over silica gels.

Damprip only cost me $5 for a liter. And that's last me quite awhile. Also, you might want to search the board on using epsom salts as a desiccant. Cheap and works well.

I wonder if he means pressure cooked to use in bulk? Hmm, would that work very well?
Just kidding

Kitty Litter was my 2nd last resourt! DampRid was nowhere to be found in my area and well Litter works fine as long as their is no Odor and Doesnt Touch the Shroom
I fan dry for 2 days and then Put in the Chamber to get Cracker Dry! Works like a Charm!

a Sealed Tight Container with Litter on Bottom and A mesh Screen to keep the shrooms elivated above the litter and then Tighten the Lid and Give it a few days!!!
The "Blue Shit" are indicator beads that tell you when you need to change the Litter! and they dont smell at all..(depending of the Brand)
just remember to fan dry them at least 70% first!! the more moisture already out of them the Faster the Litter will work and the Longer it will last!

The first stage of drying should ALWAYS be a fan unless you live where it's over 90% RH or so. After you get most of the water out with the fan, you move to the desiccant chamber.
I usually have a fan going in my desiccant chamber, and I have always used super cheap kitty litter under damprid rather than puttin the damprid on a fancy screen. It's easy to set it up that way, and the kitty litter soaks up the liquid damprid really nicely. When the kitty litter fills up with liquid, I throw out the whole mess and start again.
