Kitty Litter

How many of you have and/or do dry mushrooms with kitty litter? I have some mushrooms ready to pick and i'm defently going to fan dry for about 36 hours. After that I plan to throw them into a "dessicant" type container. My choices boil down to going out and buying some dessicant (I believe the brand is Dri-Z-Air) using Epson Salts or using Kitty Litter.

It would seem like the "clumping" style litter should work very well. It's worth a try.

Does this crystal shit clump together when wet? Will it clump or form a big mass when reheated?

Hrrmz, it seems I have a jug of kitty litter outside. It is mostly gray but has some mult-colors in it. I have no clue what it is made of it is just inside some container. Would this work. I'm 100% sure its some sort of cat litter. I only have about 20 mushrooms to dry. They will be fan dried then stuck in a chamber...I still dont know what to use.

some of that litter is very dusty, so i would be careful about that. otherwise tell us how it does. i've heard charcol can be used for musky basements, possibly drying fungus as well??
