So whats the scoop with the highly acclaimed Dung brothers compost... is it really worth 79$/15 lbs??? How is it at fighting off contams... I really have a bad problem with contams in my casings... i sterlize for 3 hours in a pressure cooker at 15 psi, then set it outside in the filter patch bag to cool down... then after about 5 days, there is either a wihite cob webbish looking shit, or green shit all over it... i have changed casing soils, have a hepa running 24/7, and am using fully colonized rye berries in the casing... Does anyone have any answers?? I have also heard of using just straight moistened verm.. either sterlized or not... does anyone know how well that works?

i have read from a lot of people that they get good results with just plain verm eithier sterlized or not... And im just about getting frustrated enough to give it a try... there is a lot of fully colonized jars just waiting to be cased... i am just trying to figure out the most contam proof way to case them.

Peatmoss, verm, and dampen with some H202, water mix
1 part h2o2 to 9 oarts water is good, but make sure the casing is only damp, not wet

thats the way i've been doing it for the past 6 months, and they all seem to contam... Have you ever heard of mixing finch seed with vermiculite and then pressre cooking and using that as the casing soil? I just may have to try that tomorrow... Any thoughts?

In regard to your problems with the casing,I think your oversterilizing it.Setting yourself up for a bacterial bloom.Sterilizing your casing at 15 PSI for 1 hour should be more than enough.As for the DB compost,I've seen the flushes it can produce and SOMETIMES if life you get what you pay for.

somewhere in north america, but im not sure exactly sure... Yes, i was pressure cooking for 1 hour at 15psi for the longest time, and all my shit got contamned, so i started doing it for 3 hours, and thought it worked, except for when i saw the massive cobweb raid on my shit, and i have heard a lot about how nice cocoa coir is, but what is it and where do you find it at. As for the plain verm mix, that is how cakes fruit the best with moist verm on the top and the bottom, so using this tek with a casing, it would virtually be a giant cake. In theory of course.

It sounds like you are definately over sterilizing it. Three hours is way too long. An hour should do it. Maybe the source of your problems is not in this phase, but somewhere else. If everything is getting contaminated, look at other sources.For example, could it be the spores you are using. A few questions: Why do you put it outside?How high do you keep your humidity once you have cased? What's your set up like. Could that be the source of contams????
As far a DB compost, well it depends on what you want and how much work you are willing to do to get it. I had amazing flushes from my 15lbs of DB compost for a total of 7.0 dried oz in two flushes. I had to get rid off the setup after the second flush, but it was still healthy with no signs of contams. So, you do the math. It was worth it for me.
