When you live in Iowa, you almost *have* to travel to see good music. KC, Omaha, Minn/St. Paul... even Chicago are all within fair driving distance. It would be nice we could get people here.

But I'm leaving in 3 months, so whatever.... :-)

I saw the Grateful Dead there in 1982 on the way back to Boston,Ma from seeing them at Red Rocks and the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphetheatre. After the Starlight we saw them at the Kiel Aud in St.Louis. I was fired from my sales job at a Stereo store when i got back but  i wouldn't have  missed it.
I ended up getting rehired with a promotion anyway :mushroom2:

Alright, this show had some real high points. They came out swinging and by the time they busted out can't get high the crowd was ready to explode, by disco we were in outerspace. They are playing so solid and so hard right now I don't think they can do any wrong. The entire first set just ripped, by the time Wondering > Send Your Mind, Greta > Knocking 'Round The Zoo, came around I was down in front, not a soul was seated.

I smoked with few locals during the long set break, the place was really chill, security was layed back. They complained about smoking in the seating areas untill the band took stage, then they just let everything go. I seen alot of people with glass bottles in there, I barely got searched walking in there.
The second set picked up right were they left off, I can't believe they played chainsaw city, they've only played it like 2 dozen times since 1990. Then right into Surprise Valley which I've been waiting to hear for nearly 2 years.
As for the rest of the second set, I'd get the tapes, there is a very good audience recording up on etree and digital panic.org I'm seeding it right now on digital panic if anyone wants to stop by a grab acopy.
It was cold tehre though, alittle cold for Chilly Water, I got by back drenched but I managed.
