a record colonization time? if so, is it bad?

one of my 1/2 pint jars colonized completely in 8 days. anyone know what the record is off a spore syringe? i imagine it'd be fairly easy to get it quicker off a mycel syringe, but that seems awfully fast for spores. i tried a new ratio of 1 part brf, 2 parts verm, and 4 parts thistle. it seems to like it. also, the biggest difference i've noticed is when i make my own syringes. they may be 'good' for 6 months, but when used fresh (like within 24 hours), the difference is amazing. i cut my colonization time down to half just by doing my own. also, does anyone know of any possible adverse effects from using a fresh syringe, because there's soooo many germination points, and every point is a different strain. one of the benefits of agar is strain segregation, and a single strain is supposed to fruit better. with how my jars germinate, if i use 4 jars in a casing, there's a hundred different strains in there. i've never done agar, so i dont' know the difference. do you think i'm getting slower fruiting/less fruits than if i were to isolate a strain? ideas/comments/suggestions? My first jar only took 8 days to completely colonize. Pinned quite nicely. Nothing to worry about :) The strain was P.E.S Hawaiian from PF.

On a average....i get my PF tek jars to 95-100% colo. in the same time. Been doing it for 4 yrs. now. No problems withit what so ever. Means you did your job ;) pat yourself on the back..hehe. The strain isolation is another issue....I'm just getting into agar work myself. Good Luck

well, if you can't get the flour, make your own from brown rice in a blender or coffee grinder. it doesn't need to be chopped to the point of total pulverization.

What temps are you incubating your jars at to get an 8 day germination cycle? I have a GT jar in the works now that was innoculated 9/17 and its now at about 50% colonized....
