Proper Temp/Lighting for colonizing jars
    #467828 - 11/23/01 09:14 PM (23 years, 3 months ago)

I recently posted some questions on the Mushroom Cultivation post regarding the proper temp. to incubate colonizing jars at and whether or not you should keep your jars in complete darkness and I got conflicting answers. I was wondering since this post is suppose to be for more advanced growers if anyone could help me. Any help would be appreciated because I am going to be inoculating my jars tomorrow.

Peace

Thanks a lot for the info, I am just getting started and I didnt want to inoculate my jars, just to do something wrong causing them not to colonize.

Do you just use a heating pad to keep the incubation chamber at 85 degrees?

keeping them in a well insulated container with a heating pad or a aquarium heater nearby can keep them at the right temp, try to get your temp right before you have the jars in there to prevent frying them. 85f is about perfect. and total darkness is key. you can take em out and inspect them from time to time.

Once in awhile you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right
