Casing in "wet" vermiculite is not going to keep out contamination. Dry vermiculite is best for keeping out contamination, yet that would not be casing.

Although the genetics of the mushroom are the same the amount of available nutrients and chemicals to the mycellium may decrease after multiple flushes.
It is also known that as the mycellium lives on it produces waste whiich may collect in a casing or whaever. Possibly altering the mushrooms chemical makeup.
I dont completly agree that the mushroom genetics are the only deciding factor in potency.

On that topic does anyone have experiance that would go to show that poo would provide more potent shrooms than a simple rice substrate?

In my experience birdseed mushrooms are more potent than rice mushrooms.
Correct me if im wrong.

Ok then I have had the same problems but i have just thourght of something is everybody using organic BRF this could be a factor is crappy shrooms. Also would a poo water added to the substrate do.

Give it a nice flavour.........but no seriously, it would probably add more nutrients to the substr8, but i dont know if it would be enough to make it worthwile....
But to the guy whose shrooms suck, when are you harvesting cuz i've been taking mine just as the veil forms and like 1 1/2g are enough to send me flyin, although that might not be the most economical way if your sharin with friends i find i far prefer quality over quantity!  :smile:

Sorry if am replying a bit slow to my posts, i have been very busy. Some reason I haev found that BRF shrooms are very weak, I have even tryed diffrent strains and found this to be the same I have even gone to the point of haveing about 30g wet and still found them to be weak. So now i have finaly managed to find a type of grain (pearly barly) that has just started, so hopefully these shrooms will be alot better.

30 g wet is only 3 grams dry. Not a hefty dose for one who trips on a regular basis.

I've never thought that BRF shrooms were weak, and in comparison I don't think that barley shrooms are strong. Eat 5 dry grams in the dark by yourself. The only word you can think of that evokes any weakness is "me".

i have no experience w/ BRF tek , but i once found some cyanescens growing on an old oak table in an abandoned barn ,two legs had fallen off of the table and its edge was on the ground ,in the shit .thats where i found the two medium sized mushies .now,this may not be a vary scientfic observation ,but all i can say is ,i wanna take a chainsaw to that table ,and dump the chips in my garden . :grin:
