Dark syringes, good or bad?

I was wondering what everyone thinks about dark syringes. Some vendors sell them and alot of people make them, but why would it be better? It seems to me that a dark syringe with billions of spores would produce a sh*t load of genotypes in one jar that would be competing with each other. What do you guys think?

a single dark syringe can be used to make many regular syringes.
resin, i doubt that there are billions of spores in a light syringe. that's a pretty large number, and cubensis spores are larger than most people think.

i meant simply that those who have not used a microscope much tend not to have a good basis for that kind of scale.
the concept of something too small to see remains an abstract one untill a reference is made. this is the same as with geologic time or cosmic distance.

Light or dark, the strongest spore match will survive and overtake.
Not always. You can have multiple, competing matches fruit from a common substrate. It is rare for a multispore innoculation to result in a single isolate without external help, in my experience.
When a lot of spores are injected into a common substrate, the multiple innoculation points tend to colonize the substrate quicker than a single point by itself. This reduces the time and space for contaminations to settle.

Yes you are correct. I should have said the strongest spore mates will survive.

IMHO, this issue of light, medium or dark syringes makes little or no differance. So long as there are enough viable spores in the syringe to activly germinate & quickly colonize the medium it is injected into.
My foaf has had light, medium & dark syringes all do the job. In a wbs (millet based) spawn jars or bags, the differance in colonization times & resulting fruit was so minimal, it made no real differance.
Its sort of like 80 proof whiskey. There are hundreds of differing kinds - world wide. They all will give you a buzz, if you drink enough. Some just prefer to drink one kind over another. The point is getting the result you want.

What would be the proper growing media for spores, if I was trying to transfer some spores from one syringe to another and then reproduce the spores? would it be TSA, TSB, or just plain water? Could I also just transfer a small amount of spores onto an agar plate and then grow a plate full?

I have innoculated 30+ 1/2 pint BRF jars with one 12cc syrynge that was clear when shaken up and all of them were fully colonized in 23 days. The strain was Golden Teacher. From then on I have only used one tiny drop per hole. It has saved me a foutune. Im not sure who ever said .5 to 1 cc per injection site but I certainly don't subscribe to it. My guess is one dark syrynge could make at least 100 syrynges that would all be perfectly viable.
