Do parents not really care about their kids nowadays?
    #4062195 -

I watch a lot of true crime shows and such. I notice a lot of parents being interviewed on TV about their child that was murdered or that died accidentally. A lot of them seem to act very non-chalant. They are able to talk about the circumstances surrounding their child's death without much apparent pain or emotion. It seems like a lot of them don't care very much. Just yesterday, I was watching a thing that showed an interview of two parents whose 15 year old boy was beaten to death with a baseball bat the night before. How could they have talked about and dealt with this less than 24 hours later? Has anybody else noticed stuff like this?

desensitization?

People die, things move on. Maybe the general public is starting to grasp that concepts.

I think that they are mostly still in shock. It takes a minute. See how they are the next month. The human spirit is a tough thing. :sun:

I don't know man, I think I know what you are talking about.. but maybe people need to take it case-by-case or learn some more details.

I had an aunt and uncle who lost their 16 year old daughter in a car crash, and in the days following they would shift from crying sooo hard to a sort of numb, far-off look and could talk somewhat normally.

But if your kid was killed with a bat less than 24 hours ago.. I do find it hard to think you would willingly sit down for an interview (if that's the type of interview...?)

I am guessing that the case would be that they are trying to control themselves infront of the camera, and that they are still in shock of what happened... I know my parents have gone thru sleepless nights where they haven't known where I am if they tried to call my friends house and we were out or something. But taht might just be my parents.

When you go thru a shocking experience....it sometimes takes a while for the "truth" to sink in.

It may take years for all the grief to work its way out.
