blind people and visionary drugs

does anyone know if blind people can have visions under the effect of visionary substances like lsd, mescalyn, dmt, shrooms?

I think that depends. If you are blind to due an eye defect, then yes. If you are blind due to damage due to your visual cortex, or some other brain subsystem that controls visual perception, then I don't think you can experience those effects.

But I wonder what a person who was born with blind eyes, though a fine visual subsystem, would see? That's something we'll never know.

Many folks born congenitally blind end up with somatosensory and auditory representations in their primary visual cortex. "tabula rasa" cortex to some extent.

This type of cross-modal plasticity has been studied for several years now. There's lots of scientific literature on such a subject.

As far as the percepts of such folks under the influence of entheogens...

So you're saying that some people who are born blind, their visual cortex "converts" to somatosensory and auditory processesing?

If so that's intense. Probably why blind people can hear better than a lot of people.

Some studies show that people who were blind from birth can have visual dreams like the rest of us. That is pretty fascinating

A guy I once knew who went blind from glaucoma took acid because he could visually see the hallucinations. One strange thing...he said that the visions were no longer associated with the position of the eyes.

That very interesting, as I cant imagine how that is supposed to "look" like. Even when I have CEV its always where my eye should be.
