rye goo

hi. this is my first time working with rye. I autoclaved a couple of quart jars after soaking the rye for 24 hours and then rinsing. There is some goo in the bottom of the jars (about a quarter inch just around the edges) and some of the grains are stuck in it. I suppose this is from too much water. My question is do i have to toss these out and start over? Is the goo too gooey for mycelia to colonize?

Shake the goo up. Then you can use it. Next time soak for a shorter time.
