Went to the Farmers' Market saturday & was pleasantly surprised to see one of the vendors had Chantarelles for sale. I asked where they were from, she said Lincoln City area. So I guess there's been enough rain/ fog out there for them to start fruiting. That means they should also be up along the Washington & BC coast by now.

Any word on lobster tails? Last time I picked them, they came out before the chantrelles...

You mean Lobster Mushrooms? Those that have been affected by a specific mould and subsequently, turned into a gourmet mushroom? I havn't seen any yet but havn't really checked my Lobster patches. This IS there time.

Lobsters and chanterelles are coming on strong in the Coos Bay, OR area. Also Agaricus augustus and a few early Boletus edulis. Try to stay in the coastal fogbelt near the ocean for best picking.

My brother mailed me a box of chantrelles from his foray in ?Gunnison?, Colorado, near Telluride. I was so excited, never smelled the aroma of a pile of those orange beauties! Then I went to a [Seattle] supermarket to buy some cooking stuff, and saw chantrelles for sale. :P Might have to make a little trip today!

The first one I saw in Scotland this year was at the end of June, and I picked a bunch in August in Scot's pine woodland by the East coast. I've also seen them for sale in several gourmet shops locally. The main supplier here is Strathspey mushrooms, from Speyside in the Highlands (where Glenlivet malt whiskey is distilled!).
