A new year brings new growth

It seems that spring has arrived early in my indoor garden.

Over the last few weeks I've slowly started to water my cacti again after the winter resting period (I usually stop watering early November and start again in February), and look at what I discovered poking through the soil this morning:


Outside it's snowing and inside I have two new peyote pups. I had decapitated the plant last June to graft the top.

So for all of you wondering when a headless peyote sprouts fresh pups, my answer is: at the start of the next growing season. (based on a sample of one)

That's a nice graft Rah, looking healthy.

Here are two pictures of the grafted top:

This morning:


In the second picture you can see a scar of growing too fast. The skin couldn't keep up and ruptured. This Loph was grafted on a T.Peruvianus pup.

And for Fluxburn: a different specimen in flower:

ya i had one I thought that teh skin wasnt growing fast enough but it turned out pups were growing under the skin, that was a nice suprise
