Salvia.......tiem to bring her inside?????
    #1915223 - 09/14/03 01:33 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Well I have been watching the temps in the last little while and I think it might be time to bring in my sally plants, and turn them from outdoor plants , to window sil plants

is it, or when will it be to cold?????????

I saw the temp at 10c on a cold night, but I KNOW it will get colder soon

also after reading the fah-q it seems you clone using the leavees!!!, that makes me want to make a clone right now! :smirk:

and when I put these babies on the window sil, I just mist them like normal and let them adapt to my room????

also I had one sally that looked rather light coloured , and some people said give it more light and some said give it less

so I gave it more and it went lighter, so I gave it less and its nice and dark green now, SO................could I just throw these girls in the coner of a room that gets a little light, as they dont need much

and as for the light issue I dont know enough to know what happened cause from what I read low Nitrogen will also cause the light green leaves so maybe the N took effect while she was in the shade

thanks

why not just take cuttings now - while you can still have them sitting in a window sill with a good amount of sun...

plus with an airstone (and aquarium pump) airating the water, raised my success rate last year from 1-10 to 9-10... and I had monster salvia growing in doors.. the worst problem hit right at the end of winter when they become so damn root bound... I had to water them almost daily...

good luck

this airstone thing put more moisture in the air right?

I mainly was wondering if its going to be to cold soon

you could bring them in. They can't take any frost. only one night of -1*C and your salvia is dead. so better bring them inside early enough.

-6C winter frosty nights and salvia plants in pots survived as they sat under the eve of the house protected from strong winds. Now showing new spring growth.

I thought they'd have died over the winter, which was why I had some clones taken back in autumn and set in under a 400w. But salvia is tougher than I thought.

The trick is, make sure they're not in the frost line. So under an eve or porch or even thick shade cloth at night. If you get snow, well that's a whole other story...bring them indoors.

I've brought mine inside, just in case... it had grown up to about 5 feet tall, I cut it back to a ~1 foot stump that had plenty of nodes for new growth, and turned what I cut off into cuttings.
It may survive if you leave it out, but I'm sure it would rather be inside by a window!
