poppy growth rate?

I germinated some Taz poppy seeds about 1 month ago, since then, they only have the second, or first proper set of leaves growing in. They still look like grass growing, not poppies, will they speed up soon? I think the light is fine, soil is a bit compacted, but that's it.
Will I get my pods in a few months?

They are outdoors. I can't do anything about the light, do you think I'll still get them fully grown in a few months? Or is this unusually slow?

It sounds to be growing quite slowly. The light is obviously ok.How are the temps?Temps approx 50 degrees F. or less make plants sluggish often times.
There are 3 factors that govern growth, good light(sufficient enough to produce good growth rates),good dirt(ie contains all the nutrients they need) and temperatures (IE not too cool or else their metabolism slows). One of these is problematic if its growing so slowly.
My outdoor plants are sluggish right now because here its still averaging 40's to low 50's.At 60 degrees F. plant metabolism picks up quite a bit and most grow excellent at temps of 70 to 75 degrees F. Of course this could vary with some plant species. But generally the more light and the higher the temps(within a healthy range) the better and faster it will grow.
I'm figuring its still a bit cool out where you are.

i just planted some poppie seeds around the yard/garden a couple days ago, and i'm hoping it's not too late as well. where i live though, it's still pushing low 40s so, i think they stand a good chance (so long as they aren't carried off by ants....)

Carefull not to overwater the poppies. I used to work at a greenhouse years ago and learned the hard way that they will do very poorly if you water them too much. They like a pretty dry soil. Not bone dry but not wet all the time either. Good luck!

their growth rate will increase. when they only have a few sets of leaves they tend to grow a little slower. relax, they will boom with growth later on. and no, it's not too late to have pods grow in. just give it a little time.
