Datura growth rates?
    #812375 - 08/12/02 09:41 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

I recently germinated some Datura seeds, then planted them. They've had their inital 2 leaves for about a week now and the only improvment I've seen in their growth is the stem getting longer.
Is this extremely slow growth common for Datura?

I had them inside 2 inches from some floroscent lights I use for growth in my planted fish tank, and the temp was about 73ish... I just moved them outside where its 88-95 and they're in full sunlight, I'm hoping I'll see some growth changes..

Datura like it hot and sunny... I'm sure you'll see improved growth now that they're outside.

Yes, datura is a bit slow at the strart, but if they are in full sun with good temps, they should start growing well enough..

While I've got my own thread going, I figure'd I'd ask another question:

Is it normal for San Pedro to "Wiggle?"
I've got mine sitting on a table and whenever the table moves, the pedro will wiggle a little bit and I'm a little concerned that it may break... Aren't they spposed to be really rigid?

Sounds like the pedro isnt rooted very well. Maybe try feeding it some root promoting fertilizer (something like Root & Grow 4-10-3). Maybe plant it a little deeper too.

Its not really the entire plant that "wiggles" it will wiggle in the middle and at the top. It just doesn't seem very firm, it seems too flexible.
What are the signs that a cactus needs to be fertilized?

If you're talking about the pedro in THIS thread, it's probably wiggling because the new growth is so stretched. It's too late to do much about it now...you could replant or consume the skinny growth and make sure the base gets more light when it pups.

i have grown daturah for several yers and had experiance with 3 different ones
single white flowers i beleive inoxia
is fast once established and VERY potent and POISONUS ive donre this owith friend in a drink best trip ever the bushes were on fire i couldent see at work the next morning so well
stupid people i know who thing that they know what they are doing
such as my girlfrien and other ate the and ended up in the hospital what a fool in a fucking pro on this one and she lied to me about it after they ate entire pod 100 seeds i will eat ten in a drink give it an hour and see where i am
Nerve toxins are in all daturah and brugmancia if your gunna grow it make it this one

a diff var. of same species "balerenna" double white with purp on revers of petals have never consumed or even had enought seeds to consider b4 now this one
will have purp stemm with no hair from seed is very slow but showey
the seed pods take the ENTIRE summer to finish then the seeds get mouldy because of humid fall i imagine it would be good to mix in my next batch of absinthe i will let you know if iu can see the next morning

a smaller flowered purp single aswell metaloides i think i may hae the 2 species confused grows like a weed with small black seeds the pods finish in a few weeks my buddy went nut and ate like 200 with no effect hes a big guy like 250 and more tollerant to drugs than most other people
however i then gave hin about 5 of the first one i mentioned he made if home even thow i tried to stop him im about 140 so ya his dad called me with stories of him tlaking to people not there and eating a candle fucked upo shit

so if your stem is hairless and purp youll be waiting all summer foe mouldy seeds or harvest em early fore max potency
i threw many seed sin soil gave 1 month with bs result so i tosed the bag in the microvae 8 min on high for me buddy to reuse well he left it onthe fridge for a month then when he finally used it the daturs had sprouted right throu the bag i think the moral heres it to some how break the seed case

if its hair and green give it time and you will be verry happy

if u used blacjk seeds they will be fast and a weed in you garden
i believ i have pics of all 3 in my gallery from this past season if you want to see some of the differances i thing my brug.s in there too
i have found this plant to take all sort of crap from [pulling the root in the fall and tossing em in the fridge for the winter and planting it agian in the spring
once you have them sprouted youve basicly alredy won the battle

any one here growing iboga
