Presealable filter patch bags--non burst?
    #3805155 -

Foaf has a 930 all american pressure cooker, and this is his first time working with pre-sealable mycobags. Since the presealable ones have a special micropourous filter that allows enough gas exchange that they do not burst, if he wanted to just place 1 or 2 bags inside the cooker, would they sterilize without bursting? Does anyone have any experience with these presealable bags? Foaf is sterilizing manure/vermiculite/straw substrate as in the pan cyan tek at mushmush and there are times when he doesn't want to fill up the cooker with several bags, but just want to do one or two. Will a single pre-sealable bag in the canner, such as the special ones sold by mycobag sterilize for 2 hours in the cooker without bursting?

I have read from derx that the non presealable one's dont have this special filter. They still have a micropourous filter, but not one that can exhange gases fast enough to not burst. The presealable bags apparently exchange air fast enough to prevent bursting.

I have also read that the medium sized bags (5.5 x 18 x 4" deep) are stronger than the large bags (8 x 18 x 5" deep)...is this true? Are they really made a little bit stronger than the larger ones?

What is the best way to keep the bags from touching the sides of the canner? I have read that a damp towel thrown over the bags works the best...what do you think? I have read the filter patch bag tips by Anno also.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what size bags--medium or large were used in pan tek shown below? What size canner do you think Una used?

yes they will burst if you use to much pressure. But I seal before I cook and as long as you don't over pressurize, it's fine.

I've used the pre-sealable mycobags with success. The seal held and everything went according to plan. The medium bags are thicker plastic than the large bags and feel more durable to me.
