getting a fluffy white covering on stem of mushroom. If my memory serves me correct is this due to too high humidty? will the mushroom still be ok to eat, keep growing etc? should mushroom be pulled? mycleium be scrapped off? thanks

It's not usually a problem unless your growing casings. In that case drop the humidity, increase air exchanges. They're safe to eat.

All of the ones i had like that i eat and have had no problems at all. I would let them grow and eat them. Also cut down on the humidity next time to prevent it. L3D

You shouldn't have a problem, since the mushrooms are nothing more than compressed mycelium anyway. It's normal for some mycelium strands to grow on the bottom half inch of the stem, from my experience.

should be ok... its not a problem, per se.. drop Rh, and if that doesnt fix it, increase air exchange

thanks all. my biggest shroom, has grown down the cake bottom bit of stem has myc. on it, which has started to grow small shrooms are now. the veil is starting to break, but all other shrooms on cake are small. Ideally as viel is breaking shrooms should be picked, BUT as other shrooms are small, i want to leave them to grow abit. As the big shroom has grown downwards, the bottom of the cap is pointing upwards so spores can't be dropped. IS it ok to leave it like this to allow others to grow. Shoul big one be picked and others left to grow.? will try and get a picture when i find my damn camera :S
