Do you remember anything that was said on your other thread(s) about perlite??

Peat based potting soil could? work, but perlite is a big no-no.

The search function is your friend, use it.

It will not work. Use the teks provided in this sites mushroom info section. verm/coir will work or verm/peat moss.

the casing layer should contain no nutrients at all.

you have misunderstood the purpose of a casing layer in your reading.

I didn't even see the grain part

You want a casing layer that does not have any nutes and holds water well. EG not grain or perlite.

Where do you live, you've posted that you cant find a lot of the proper supplies? Its starting to sound like you raided someones shed and are trying to make do with what you found.

It might work...but it will work shitty if it does. And if you add grain to the mix you'll probably get contams. But umm good luck...

I'm curous as to why you even bothered posting asking us if its ok? None of those three ingredients will provide you any help and you could do such a better casing mix but you dont want peoples advice, you obviously want to try it your own way...so why bother asking for opinions if you don't plan on taking them into consideration? Potting soil is a crappy growing medium for mycelium (though peat based could work as someone said), perlite doesnt hold in water and adding grains to the casing is the stupidist move.

Soil is the best ingredient in your mixture (I'd go with straight soil over that other crap) and its the soil your worried about?

Oh well, whatever..
