potting soil as a casing material
    #893355 - 09/19/02 10:40 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

I heard that this can be used to  case with. Any comments, whether agreed or disagreed is welcomed!

The mixture consist of verm, peat moss, and cactus potting soil. If this can be used to case ur cakes with, any1 know
what the ratios are and whether it is good to use? Im tired of using just plain verm and im finding it a lil difficult to find coir,
hydrated lime, oyster shell and other things cus i've been quite buzy lately. Nurseries and feed stores r usually a bit further than ur local walmart
chains....need to see if even walmart has those things  =[

Also instead of using hydrated lime, can real lime juice be used and if it can how does one go about preparing it?  I mean
is there sterilizing it that is necessary or is squeezing it fresh and adding it to ur peat and verm all that is needed

Thx,

sBUD:tongue:

Straight verm is better than using potting soil. If you can find it, Jiffy Mix is hard to beat for an out of the bag 50/50+.

Lime juice is very acidic, hydrated lime is very alkaline. They have nothing to do with each other, definitely dont put lime juice in your casing.
