LD 50 listings
    #3690913 -

i was just wondering if anyone had a list of LD 50's for most of the drugs in circulation (i.e. LSD, Mescaline, Coke, Etc.) i just thought it would be interesting to know the LD 50 for all these types of substances

-mike

does alcohol have an LD 50 becuase some guy in [edit]bulgaria[edit] blew .914 after being hit by a car he was perfectly fine minus scrapes and bruises [edit] some head injuries [edit] which is amazing since i think .3 is comatose for most people

Got a question about a substance?  Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the  mushroom experience? The  Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before.

Erowid is good, but not entirely accurate.....some LD50s are not for humans, for instance they list LSDs LD50 at either 12,000 or 14,000mcgs..........and that is way, way off. There is no known human LD-50 for humans, some people have taken 2 grams at a time.

looki practicly live at erowid i love absorbing this kind of info and yeah it nas an LD 50 for maybe 1 out of every 10 drugs

and for Dark Star that does not mean that 12,000 ug is not the LD 50 just because as you say people have taken 2 grams at once ( which i find highly unlikely sinces that is 2,000,000 ug) LD 50 is the state at which 50 % of the people die or test subjects

-mike

yes i understand the difference between LD50 and LD 100 an LD 100 would be near impossible to determine because your stating no matter this persons tolerances or physical chemistry this dose will kill them

It really isn't the LD50 though, well it is, but for rats, not humans.......the human LD50 is not known, and will probably never be known; http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1427364/page//fpart/1/vc/1

Dark_Star is right in that aspect. Most of the LD50s for drugs like LSD are not the dose at which 50% of the people die, they're actually the dose at which 50% of the rats die, and then use the drug dose per kilogram weight to make an estimate of the LD50 for humans. Nevertheless the LD50 for humans is often way off, because we are not rats, and you can't just use the per kilogram LD50 dose for rats for a primate with a completely different body and system.

2 grams does seem radical, the highest I've ever heard of anyone going was by Robert Hunter, who took 250,000 micrograms, or 1/4 gram. Not that it hasn't been done, but they'd be extremely messed up for weeks I'd imagine

Holy crap! a .914 means that their blood was 91.4% saturated with alcohol. That is more than a lethal amount, so could you double check your source and ensure that he wasn't an alien or zombie or some such? That's ridiculous!

yeah im guessing .0914. lets even say his blood alcohol level was that high he would have been shitting and pissing on himself instead of walking in front of cars.

yeah i don't know who gives you guys our information but blowing .914 would not be 91.4 % alcohol.
and i have been drunker than .0914 why would i ask about that that's barely over legal drunk. (.08 here; .1 in some states)

here is how this stuff works
registering .08( legal drunk in many states now) means
0.08 grams of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

okay so here goes 1ml of water weighs one gram x100 = 100grams
.08g/100g = a percentage
making .08 grams  .08 % alcohol content in water

okay adn since blood is 83% water by volume is wieghs still approx. 1 gram per ml ( same as water)
thus the alcohol content would be incredibly close to the same.

so consider the number you blow through that tube the amount of alcohol by percentage in your body

bringing us back to my story this would mean the mans blood was .914 % alcohol by volume. So like i said .3 is usually alcohol poisoning and comatose state.

i hope you all learned something today

sorry i got taken away on a tngent there i understand that LD50 is a scientific term or approximation more than a real fact i was just wondering if anyone had a chart or list of the scientifically tested LD50's for these drugs ( when it comes to animal testing and the amount/kg )

that's all i wanted not to hear about how incorrect it is and how people don't know much about alcohol testing
sorry for sounding edgey
