dumb question about shroom names

Hi everyone,
I was just curious about the names of shrooms. I understand that B+ and other names for the shrooms aren't the correct terms for them. Is there somewhere where I can learn about shrooms? Please let me know.

Sup man..
Check out erowid http://www.erowid.org for good information on mushrooms, even other hallucinogens can be looked up at erowid.
Its a great site with lots of valid information, they will most likely have what you are looking for.
If that doesn't work, run a search on this BB and im sure you'll come across what you've been looking for :)

Most mushrooms that you can grow from spores being sold as prints or syringes are Psilocybe cubensis. These mushrooms have been cultivates to the point of recieving a name or they refer to a strain that is found in particular parts of the world. Ps. cubensis is the most widely cultivated shroom, so different strains can sometimes indicate potency.
Other than that particular species, you could purchase a variety of identification guides, including Paul Stamets' Psilocybian Mushrooms of the World an Identification Guide and The National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms.
I recommend these two books, because between them, they provide both the Psylocybian and also mushrooms you may come across and learn about in the process of finding your magic.

they are mostly from where the strain comes from, i know that B+ stands for: B (big) and + (very) so B+ means very big. i am not sure about golden teacher, or liberty cap, but cvambodians, and purto ricans have to do with where they came from.

B+ and the other strains ARE the correct term for them. They are all Psilocybe Cubenses, a particular type of shroom that gets you high.
Do you mean street names for mushrooms? I don't think you'll ever here anyone say something like "can i buy 5 grams of your Ecuadorian strain?"
All these names you're hearing (like B+, Cambodian, Treasure Coast, Ecuadorian, Thai Lipa Yai, the list goes on) are mostly just names for the strain. Check out thehawkseye.com or another spore vendor to see a lot of diff. strains.

yup... they are all diferent strains of the same mushroom (psilocybe cubensis)... but don?t forget that we have also psilocybe semilanceata (lyberty cap) and copelandia cyanescens (sold as hawaiian shrooms in holland) and so on and so on... which differ from the cubensis not only in size and for and color, but the trip is also slightly different...

Hmmm..............
That's interesting. I've been thinking that the B+ strain referred to the potency of the mushroom. Like, you studied for your test, but didn't recieve and A, but a B+. It's fair, but not an A.
Or maybe the strain was given a B+ due to its ease of cultivation. I know it's easily available, sporewise, and also one of the easiest to grow.
Stay cool!-Levi7.

Liberty Caps are so called because the caps look like helmets from some French army or something.

Thanks for all of the help fellow members. I just wanted to know the real names for the shrooms because I wanted to do some research on them. With names like Liberty Caps, B+, etc... I didn't know if they would be in a field book under those names or something. Anyway, thanks again people! BTW mjshroomer I didn't know that was your website. I look at that website all of the time.
