Though as a note I used to skate, got pretty good at it. I remember a lot of weird stuff from that period, as I was young and didn't do drugs, yet a lot of other kids were, and I didn't realize it until I was older.

I started skating when I was 9 or 10 I think.

I've been skating for more than 8 years, not always so much at the start, but now I guess you could say I skate a lot.

It sucks not being able to skate during winter, though.

I started skating about 4 years ago but have had breaks and stuff in between. I am ok if I practice but not so good at the moment. Sometimes all I wanna do is skate and at others it's the last thing on my mind so how much I skate varies.

Used to skate ramps when I was young.  Never was any good on the street.  Come to think of it, wasn't that great on the ramps either! :grin:  But it was fun.

But I don't like to get hurt anymore.  The old body just doesn't bounce back like it used to.  I have traded in my 'extreme sports' for more passive adventures.

I mostly skate street. I don't like going to parks where you have to pay and it's always crowded.

I'm starting to try skating vert and pools now though. It's pretty fun, but I'm not that good at it yet. The biggest transition I've dropped in on so far has been about 9 feet maybe.

I skate.  LOVE skating street..thats what I am best at.  I don't mind parks but I hate paying for them and like you said they are always crwoded and always with little kids who get in your way.

That spot is half a block away from me, I LOVE THAT.  That bench was killer, perfect height, slide so nice.  I have lots of footage on it.  If I was ever bored I would just hit up that spot, it then had 2 little bank ramps, and cement curb (the flagbox thing that you can see in a pic)  and then on the other side there was a 4 set, a 5 set, an 8 set, and then there was some fiberglass benches on another side.

But they took out the bench that is shown in the pics which was the best  :frown:

used to alot more than i have the last couple years or so..

it's influence will always be a big part of me..I think my experence with it actually helped get my mind accustomed to the idea of pushing limitation..I know it definitely helped fine tune my abbility to focus and maintain interest in what I was doing, both of which I think have contributed immensely to how I apporached playing music at the time which developed on from there.  Needless to say music is now pretty much my life and this thread has got me wishing it was summer so I could atleast run out and skate to the store or something..loving the feeling of just coasting along..maybe now I will get to dream of skateboarding tonight..  :smile2:

Nice pics!! I skated heavily from age 12 to around 20. I'm 28, now and I occasionally jump on a board just messin around. I used to be decent, but time fades skill in all things. The knowledge is still there, but the ability has slipped away, I fear. It's all good. :smirk:

I love skating for transportation...especially down hills, i love crusing down huge hills, carving is so fun. And just skating through a city is so fun.

Skateboarding in airports is also fun, i can say i skated through ohare internation airport in chicago. Beforee 9/11, i would probably get in a lot of trouble if i did it now. But if you have ever been there there is the under ground walkway with the moving walkways...i skated on one of those (fun) and then on the florr. Twas fun.

But usefulidiot, you brought up some good points that i agree with you a lot on. Skateboarding has developed me a lot, and overall strengthened me. It's funny slamming onto cement real nasty and everyone that doesn't skate freaks out and you just get back up and try it again. And having my older brother always kicking my ass toughened me up but I like it. It's kept me healthy, it's very fun, and it's a hard thing to do in general. People think skateboarding is stupid and easy, and they step on a board and can barely ride it.

Skateboarding used to be my life, but now I barely skate that often anymore, but often enough where I am pretty consistent with a lot of tricks. This summer I plan on skateboarding more.

i skate
i just started after about a 6 month break
i hit my head pretty hard and for a while i was having problems with my balance and twiching arms and other such bad stuff :shrug:
but im back at it again :smile:

speaking of the knowledge thing, i was think the other day while i was watching a skateboarding video (which i seldomly do these days, i randomly bought a new one) and was thinking regular people have no clue what is going on but in a second clip i can see a guy is doing a switch backside tailslide big spin out. or whatever the trick is and it will sound like some crazy big weird name. I was relaly high so it sounded a lot more unusual at the time.

I have a Canon Optura 10...just got my new fisheye lens in the mail today.

My goal for this summer is to skate a lot more, get some good footage. I want to go on a skating road trip sometime. This summer it could happen.
