Skateboarding
    #2859375 - 07/05/04 06:56 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Well I posted here not too long ago about wanting to start skateboarding, I was asking advice on what kind to get. Anyway I got a tgm blank deck with some lower cost parts. Core trucks, amphetamine bearings, blank wheels. Ive been doing this a few weeks and i would have to say it is the most rewarding hobby ive had so far. Its alot of excercise so thats good. It also lends to a great feeling of accomplishment I get noticeably better. I can ollie standing still really good and im just now getting to where i can ollie while riding on a consistent basis, though not very high, maybe a couple of inches. I think im doing pretty good considering I dont know anyone else that even has a skateboard. Possibly because im in Oklahoma. I hurt my knee pretty bad yesterday I tried ollying while riding and my back foot didnt land on the board and the front foot kept going on the board. Stretch my nutsack and twisted my knee, but I think its all worth it. I recommend this to anyone.

Skateboarding is great.  I've skated for 7 years now and love it.  I always look at my surroundings and look for things to skate.  Or i will comment on how something looks cool to skate or something.

It is very rewarding too.  For me it feels great when you do a trick 100% perfect/smooth.  Brings me lots of enjoyment.

i  skateboarding

good luck. its a pretty fun sport.

try getting to a mini-pipe. i fucked myself up real good on a 3 foot ramp trying to drop in many many times before i got it, so give it a go. its a great feeling of accomplishment when you do it. keep practicing, and you'll get better fast.

Skateboarding IS great.  I skated for a good 5 years but have maybe less than 10 times in the last couple..I have a pretty much brand new complete sitting around that I bought when it was still pratically an obsession.  I think it's about time I dig up some of the videos we did, man it's been a while..skating was a huge part of my life growing up..it played a huge role in my overall growth mentally and physically, and regardless of whether I even step on a board again, it's many levels of past influences will always be a big part of me.

Keep at it!!

I've had times that i don't skate much. BUt i'm trying to do it more now. This fairly new skatepark by my house is great. It's a free outdoor cement park. It's really nice except for that all the bank ramps are all the same angle, and steep. But you can get some sweet lines down and when i get new tricks done or a cool line down i feel great.

We have a few parks scattered around here, but of course most the outdoor ones are completely packed with kids..which can be really annoying for various reasons. I was never too big with ramps anyways, with the exception of wedges, I loved those things. You probably know this but they look almost like one of these: /\ ... with much less of an incline..maybe they have different names in different places..I dont know. But yeah landing new things was always extremely satisfying. Landing new tricks over that wedge would pump me so full of energy..I really miss it. The number of movements possible with just two feet and a board with wheels can be completely mindblowing just to think about..the mind over matter aspect of the whole thing is what really got me so attached to it. This post is getting me kind of worked up..I might end up having to take the ole thing for a spin tonight..

Yeah. I love half cabs...i love popping a nice clean one. I've had phases with doing stuff switch or nollie. I can get switch 50-50's on low ledges and curbs. Same with nollie 50-50's. Doing it the opposite stance is liek relearning and very satisfying cause it's a lot harder then normal. I used to be able to nollie 2-3 decks stacked on sides.

or off ledges. feels so good to land smoothly, and just roll away. I like lip tricks on ledges too.

I love slides/grinds. Even though i know i can do stairs i usually don't skate them that much. For some reason i get scared doing stairs. I can do shit off of high ledges that are like head height, but i don't do stairs. It's weird. I know i can clear the stairs too, i'm just a pussy when i comes to stairs i guess. But i should start making myself do them more.

Yeah skating switch was real fun for me to work with..almost like learning to skate all over again.  There were tricks I could do switch that I couldn't land regular, and vice versa.  I always sucked at switch/nollie ollies, though.  I could never really grip my front foot enough to pick up the  board with much control.  My switch healflips among other tricks always poped up higher and were always so much cleaner than my ollies..

bah...Skating rocks. I'ma going out for some tonight

Heh, thats sweet.  Handrails scare the shit out of me. Especially ones with hard, rigid, pointy stairs underneath.  I'd be surprized if I could even find the balls to make the effort get up on one without falling on my face.

That little flat ground rail at the park was always fun though

Talking about skating is making me really wanna skate.  I just wanted to go to the school thats half a block away cause it has a very nice bench and some bank ramps.  But i just realized they just recently took out the bench :frown:.  And i'm too tired/sore to today.  My back and body is sore from uncomfortable sleeping fromt eh past few nights.  I haven't slept in my bed for so long.  I've been on couches and floors for the past few nights.  And the one couch i've mostly been on is TINY and you have to curl up kinda and my back gets VERY sore from it, yet i always choose to sleep on it when i'm there.

And i'm a LITTLE high.

Gonna get more tonight:bong:

(the bong just reminded me, i want to make a bong.  Or i should make a gravity bong for tonight.  I'm gonna stay home to night and relax by myself and i'm gonna wanna get high so a gravity bong would do just the right thing.)

i actually have an old deck, but it's almost broken. It's cracked across the middle, only the first ply, or the first 2. But it's weak, im keeping it for if i break the board i have now and can't get a new deck right away.
