 Gonzales Won't Answer, Cites Geneva Conventions

(2005-01-06) -- Alberto Gonzales, President Bush's Attorney General nominee, told the Senate Judiciary Committee today that he would state only his name, rank, date of birth and Air Force serial number, which is all that is required under the terms of the Geneva Conventions.
Mr. Gonzales, who faces criticism from Democrat senators over a memo he wrote seeking to clarify whether the Geneva Conventions apply to terror suspects, refused to answer further questions from committee members at his confirmation hearing.
White House spokesman Trent Duffy said President Bush hopes Senators will, at least, treat Mr. Gonzales according to Article 14 of the Third Geneva Convention, which states: "Prisoners of war are entitled in all circumstances to respect for their persons and their honour."
Mr. Gonzales' refusal to answer Senators' questions did not affect the committee's inquiry, which consists primarily of speeches to a gathering of journalists.

I was watching the confirmation hearing and that reporter missed some of what happened. After Gonzales refused to answer any questions, members of Congress strapped him down, dunked his head in water, and kept him awake by blaring "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".

Haha I sure got fooled!
that last part with Bin Laden was real funny.
It wouldn't suprise me though if Gonzales after bashing and discrediting the Geneva convention would then hide behind this 'quaint' set of international guidelines to save his own ass.
He's such an asshole and should be strung up by his testicles along with Rumsfeld, Cheney and all the other assholes. Bush is just dumb he knows not what he's doing. But no way in hell should he be running the worlds most powerful country.
The rest of the administration can go to hell.

(2005-01-08) -- Even as Tribune Media Services announced it had dropped columnist Armstrong Williams after he admitted receiving $241,000 from the Department of Education to promote 'No Child Left Behind', new allegations surfaced today that the Bush administration may have paid Michael Moore to oppose the president's reelection.
Mr. Moore and the White House both deny the charges, but critics point to the "almost scary" relationship between Mr. Bush's electoral success and the vigorous efforts of the Oscar-winning filmmaker to tarnish the president's image.
"The more he attacked Bush, the more Americans loved the president," said an unnamed spokesman for the American Society of Correspondents, Editors and Writers. "You don't have to be Oliver Stone to see the outlines of a conspiracy there. Michael Moore practically handed Bush his second term on a silver platter."
"The outcry from professional journalists over these pay-for-commentary scandals is not surprising," the source added. "They violated the journalistic code of honor. It's appalling to think that these men received compensation for weaving their biases into their work. Meanwhile, thousands of hard-working journalists do the same thing every day at no extra charge."

Great_Satan...I've made my fair share of posts that only contained a link...but I have tried to at least offer somewhat of a commentary with them. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. Instead of just blindly posting crap with no input of your own.
