Missing HDD?

Hey, I have a small problem that I thought someone here might be able to help me with. I restarted my computer today and my second hard drive isn't showing up in windows. The bios reconises it but it doesn't show up in windows (XP Pro SP 1). Any idea how I can get it back? Alot of stuff I need is on this disk and formatting it is not an option.

Edit: The hard drive shows up in Device manager (says it is working correctly) but not in disk management

Hrmm ive had this problem before in sp1. Try rebooting a few times to see if it comes up.

Check to make sure jumpers are set right. Like if its on master/slave change it to channel select or vice versa. Is this hard drive on a PCI controller card? You may have to install its drivers for it to work.

I have already checked all the cables, the jumpers wouldn't have changed though would they? It's not connected to a pci controller card, it goes straight into my motherboard. I will try rebooting it a few times.

Edit: I don't think I have the drivers for the hard drive, I got it from a computer fair and it installed fine at first. I am searching the internet as we speak though.

Dear god I hope not.. I have been running some tests on it that I got from the makers website and it passed the quick test fine. I will run some more when I get time and try and find out whats going on.

My comp does that too, only it's with my cd burner, sometimes it'll just disappear, then i'll reboot and it's back. *shrugs*
