Websites installing things on your comp
    #1731441 -

Well, recently after a bout of porno surfing, it turns out that some website installed some things on my computer without my knowledge. One of them is something called EZDate, which I managed to uninstall, and get rid of. However, it was back again today. It also added a toolbar onto my Internet Explorer browser, which I managed to get rid of as well, but that came back too. It's called ISTbar. What also happens is that in my favourites, it adds 2 folders with porn links. I've deleted that and it came back, so I deleted it again.
The biggest concern is a XXX Toolbar that I can't uninstall from Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel. I click on uninstall, and it doesn't do anything, just clicks and nothing happens.
I've run Window Washer to get rid of any cookies/cache files, and also run Adaware, which found some spyware, which I deleted.
But that XXX Toolbar is not letting me get rid of it, and I cannot find a folder for it like the other applications.
Is there anyway I can get rid of this, and stop the other applications from installing themselves again? Note: after I found all these applications on my computer, I haven't browsed porn lately, and it still managed to install it again (so I'm assuming that I haven't revisited the site that did this to me).
Help, anyone?

I get like 20 e-mails a day and i constantly un-subscribe. This is all thanks to a moronic ex-friend that in the flames of battle signed me up to a bunch of BS every chance he got. You could format your computer to get rid of it... I'm sure there's an easier way than that but I sure as fuck dont know!

DO NOT UNSUBSCRIBE FROM JUNK E-MAILS!!! This lets them know that your e-mail account is active, and it is then worth more money to re-sell to other e-mail spamers.

In essence, it will just get you on more lists, and you'll receive even more junk e-mail. It moves from from the C Sucker list, to the B Sucker list. If you ever want to make the A Sucker list, then buy something from them, or help a Nigerian Citizen transfer his bank account...

I downloaded SpyBot, and it worked well (found other shit I didn't know I had), but I still can't remove the XXX Toolbar. It doesn't appear on my Internet Explorer, but it shows up in Add/Remove Programs and won't uninstall.  :nonono:

As long as you use spybot and some antivirus software on a regular basis, you should be good to go. The only bad thing is that the spyware and such can pile up and permentally fuck up your registry.

You can uninstall all traces of a program and it still sometimes shows up on the add/remove programs list. Unless you don't want parents or something to see it,I wouldn't worry about it. The only way to really get rid of it is to fix your registry (which you be time consuming/difficult,or reinstall windows.

disable active x, or make it so it asks to run any java/act-x apps, you could get 0wned pretty good (trojans) etc....you should just get rid of windows and go for a *nix OS....

Wrong!
Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT).
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall, and remove any unwanted subkeys under "Uninstall."

That is easy enough to do to clean up your add/remove list. Then you should get a program like regcleaner that lists everything in a easy to use interface and just check and remove everything that you don't recognize having.

Also you should get a pop-up blocker so those pop-ups don't install crap on your computer.

one time I had this huntbar crap and couldn't get rid of it. I'm not sure if this will work for you, but just go back to the website and look around for an uninstaller. I found one and it got rid of it in a snap.

When I was using my brothers' computer I accidently (true) clinked on a link to a porn site, I got out of it and went back on course. a day after using it, he's like WTF is up with this program you downloaded? I was like . He was like - , I was like  when I saw what he was talking about, and I told him it wasn't me, but I had a funny feeling that it came from that site I was at.
