I want to reinstall windows and have a few questions.
1. I have two partitions on my hard drive. C: is where my programs are, including windows and D: is where I store all kinds of data, like music. Can I install windows on C: without losing everythng on D:?
2. I want to seperate the operating system from everything else. Can I move the program files folder to the other partition after installing, or should I just install all programs I need in a different folder on the D partition?
3. Can I change partition size after installing windows? For example my C: partition is 20gig but I don't need that much for windows alone.

if you reformat C: you won't lose anything on the D:

yes you can, as installing data on parition C does not affect partition D data at all.
keep in mind however that ull have to reinstall all software after the format, may want to back up some stuff from C to D fist.

if you install windows on partition C you simply install all your programs on partition D - no big deal, doesnt have to be on c.
however copying folders is never such a great idea as it fucks up certain links between programms, you cant go wrong if you simply install all of them on D though

About the programs: You'll need to reinstall all programs on C:/D:, as most programs create registry entries which i beleive are stored on the C: drive. Just check what proggies u got installed an make sure to DL them onto CD before formating. I usualy keep all the install files on the D: drive to make life easier, unless of course they are huge. Word of advice: Make sure you have SP2 installed before you go on the net!
I installed WinXP on my buddy's new PC thinking it'll connect to winupdate and download SP2 automaticaly. Well it didnt wanna work so i went to google. Not 10 mins later, i had such a bad trojan on that PC, ...well i cant even explain how bad it drilled itself into the hardrive. I reformated, slapped on AVG Free edition, downloaded SP2 on a different PC and installed it.
