Dinosaurs and the bible :P
    #3598253 - 01/08/05 12:15 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

Dinosaurs, and jesu Christ, I ask, how do they relate?
intended on living long and longer than that (in this body)
seeing no rush in plowing through the book of books,
any relation found to Dinosaurs in the bible at all?

i wish i could help you out gomp, but as you have probably figured out i am not exactly a fommower of the bible, and i do believe that dinosuars are one of the most popular arguments against the bible, i believe simply because we have concrete proof of thier existance, you know, like, how did noah fit the dinos on the ark, but then again i believe the dinos were extinct far before the book of big daddy, little-j, and the spook.
but then again i dont really know to much about the bible.

If you go on Google you will be able to find allot of links to stuff on it. there is evidence that man and dinosaur walked the earth at the same time, and the book of Job gives reference to a behemoth. In pretty much every culture there are many tails of giant lizards and what not, i guess this could just be old stories of accounts with dinosaurs. A good explanation for the extinction of dinosaurs is the Ark if the earth was flooded it would kill all the land dinosaurs and Barry them in all sorts of sediment which would be why it appears they died so long ago. Yet some of the see dinosaurs would survive like Nessie (pleaseosuras or something?)and all those fish and stuff they thought were extinct with the dinosaurs. Anyways that's just my 2 cents
there's some stuff on this site but its not that great.

leviathan i think was meant to refer to a whale. All that htey say about him is "can you catch leviathan with your hook or snare him in your net" which could more sensibly mean a whale then a dinosaur. Also behometh could be an elephant or any large animal.

Or maybe the dinosaurs were around at the same time as all the mammals but of course climate conditions would have made that impossible, i think....

also one explanation for why so many cultures have stories about dragons etc is that they would uncover fossilized dinosaur bones and not understanding the fossilization process think that they were recent skeletons.

i dont know anything about it though.

please do not attempt to utilize the book of the dominant cultural mythos of eurociv as a literal history book...

myth is deeper than mere fact anyways, yes?

lol. believe my i take nothing in the bible as anything more than a myth, However you may notice that the question im adressing in this thread is "dinosaurs and JESUS CHRIST, how do they relate?"

where else are you gonna look for that information if not in the bible?

I think it would be neat if we walked the earth with such a ravid beast. I'd think that these beasts would have been hunted. Raptors were no easy predator to kill and probably killed thousands of people or so. Well that's only if we lived the same time these magnificent beasts did.

I met a group of people who denied the existence of dinosaurs, claiming that they weren't in the Bible.

Fossil evidence proves nothing, i guess.

There are some dragons mentioned in the bible and giants. Perhapse
aincient people found a skeleton or two here and there and legends began spreading. There are dragons and giant beasts in a lot of cultures.

Humans did not exist at the same time of the dinosaurs, thats a common fact. Man has only been around for few million years, dinosaurs became EXTINCT 365 million years ago.

same basic description of a Dinosaur.

Yeah.. 4 legs.. a head.. unlike MOST animals on the planet. The first thing you'd notice about a dinosaur would be its feathers. Do any of these descriptions include.. woah..

What the hell am I doing? Debunking this crap? Christ, you guys do it yourselves, this shit is just overwhelmingly idiotic..

I mean, dinosaurs in the bible??? I'd trust the the version of natural history documented by protohominids scratching on cave walls before the bible........................bnleh

Way back when I was in seminary school, someone put forth the proposition that the fossils were created as they are to test the faith of believers. Yes, dear friends, if you can deny the evidence of your five physical senses, and believe in the creation story and in Noah's ark (which held no Tyrannosaurus Rex, nor Apataosauri or Velasaraptors) then your faith is stronger than your belief in your GOD-given eyes and you are definately saved. Of course, this belief went along with the attitude: 'Adam's rib, not women's lib,' and other finely honed expressions of complete ignorance.

Come on now....Biblical era people were too busy to become archeologists, paleontologists or any other kind of -ologist. The world was flat, the Sun and stars revolved around the Earth (how adolescent of humankind), mythology defined historical reality, and there was no temporal frame of reference, like say, the birth of Jesus of Nazareth...I mean Jesus of Bethlehem...you know what I mean.
