Small Mushrooms! RH in PMP to low?

Hello dear guests A few minutes ago 231 people where peeping this forum so I hope for any answers. IN my PMP there are 5 cakes. * 1 PF classic in its 3rd flush. * 3 GT many pins first flush, fast colonizer. * 1 B+ cake, will hopefully start pinning soon. The PF classics 1st flush (and start of second) where in a bucket with geolite and water. I sprayed and fanned by hand I had a very nice harvest (first time!). The second part of the 2nd flush was in the current PMP. The caps of teh mushrooms split in here. 10 days ago I birthed the GT. I dunked (16 hours or so) and rolled them. Very fluffy myc growth on the cakes before pinning finally started. But now the largest shroom is ONE inch long (not an abort). I am wondering what is the cause? A search says it can be low RH, it can be the strain, it can be bad air exchange. THe PF classics have longer stems, 3, maybe 4 inches. But very small caps this time. WTF is going on in my PMP? Consisting of, 4 inch geolite, 2 airstones (7 inch long). Temps are between 68 and 75. I also spray by hand and fan a bit now and then cause I dont trust my setup... I think I switch to casings very soon!! Much easier IMHO.. All advice ill recieve with open legs, ehh arms..

Maybe you just grew a lazy 2nd flusher. When you said the myc was fluffy you mean not rhizomorphic which could be the prob. Rhiz gives you more pins and stronger ones

You mentioned that you have 4" of geolite in the bottom of your PMP. What is your water level at? If it's too high there might not be enough exposed surface area of the geolite to properly humidify your chamber. Just a thought.

The GT's (many pins but turn out small mushrooms) are first flushers. They colonized rather rhizomorphic too and fast.
Updated with PICS in POST1.

I heard that before beetledjoozzz... It might be too high.
The surface isnt 100% flat at some places the waterlevel is at 4/5 of the geolite, other parts it is 3/4 to 3/5.

Far right one sees the 3rd flusher.

I've never used geolite so I can't say with any certainty but I it might help if you tried to keep the water level at 1/2 of that of the geolite. At least that's what seems to work best with perlite. But, then again they are two totally different substances. Maybe someone with more experience with geolite could confirm or correct me on this? Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. GL to ya though.

Thanks Beetle.
Yes it seems that there are no real GEO-GURUS here. Ive been asking this a lot lately but no real definite advice.
Magash TEK says keep water at 3/4 of the substrate. So I might drop it a bit. In my first tub though I had the water almost just as high as the geolite. And had a wonderfull flush. But no airpump then.
Maybe I try the double tub some time since I wanna move on to casing/bulk anyway.

I use 4 inches of hydroton/geolite and 3 inches of water with one bubble wand that goes from one corner to the other. This works perfect for my cakes.

wait until the veil tears. i worried about mine during the first flush... but they seemed to shoot up a few inches in a day or two and were normal sized.
you get bigger fruits with bulk anyways. def. the way to go... i'm doing a spawn run right now... good luck!

Hmz maybe my airstones suck
the pmp is almost 3 feet long and 1,5 foot wide.
I have 2 airstones in it bith about the size of a mans tumb. Now all the air comes out on one place and might blow the cakes dry?
Would it work to puncture the airtubes over a certain length, lets say 20 inch, with a hot needle and make plenty of small holes? And so making a ghetto bubble wand?
Here I never see the real bubblewand in the aquarium shops...

i've found bubblewands at pet shops/walmart... etc. this could be your problem.
shop around EVERYWHERE until you find what you want. the phone book is nice and helpful... who's going to suspect when you're looking for a bubble wand?

Hey Zero
Here we have no walmart etc. I searched the local petshops and the online aquarium stores. Finally yesterday I found a german site who has it. No prices though.
When I get my hands on it I probably buy one. But I figured to try the ghetto-style first.
BTW no need for me to be afraid of being suspicious, im in a country where it is rather legal to grow your own mushrooms.
Thanks, MF

My only issue with the air tubes is being maybe to much weight on them then not as much air would pass ina pinch?
