Frozen Dunked Cakes!!!
    #3579620 - 01/04/05 03:28 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I am so T.Oed right now, I dunked 6 PF Cakes last night colonized with P.Cubenis...they have been colonizing for weeks. Finally...I dunked them and put em in the fridge and four of the six cakes had ice when i took them out this morning. They werent frozen solid. I was wondering, the water they were dunked in had turned to a slushy ice/water mixture. There were some flakes of ice on the outside of the cake but the cake itself was not frozen solid. Is this extreme cold temperature going to mess with my pinning and/or fruiting. I have placed them in the fruiting chamber and all the ice flakes have melted....???

You should roll them in verm if you didnt...roll wet cake in dry verm then spray dry verm till moist...will help flushes alot..

Time will tell but about 99% chance they're ok I'd say...I've had about 3 or 4 casings do this...all produced normally afterwords. Also there has been this question asked before and a number of other people have posted about this happening to them too and I cant recall one that said it didnt fruit ok after a mild freeze (the kind that happens in your fridge with a few ice flakes).

The same thing happened me. I got it out and let it set at room temp for about an hour to thaw, then rolled in verm. It fruited as if nothing happened. Myc is some strong shit!
