Sterility question!!

So i'm getting ready to noc up my second batch, and was wondering if there is a little bit of rust on the lid of a jar is that bad? it is a very little bit but dont want to take any risks. Can thhe lid be flipped so the rust is on the outside?

Also i wanted to sterilize a syringe that used to have spores in it and use it to hydrate my dec from time to time. Can it be placed in the dish washer and then put on hot steam dry to sterilize? Thanks in advance!!!

i sterilize my needles by sucking up boiling water through them. it sucks cause you scald the shit out of your hands but its the quickest. im pretty sure rust cant harm your grow cause its not a a contam, but dotn quote me on this one.

there is another way to sterilize with a pc, but the way i do it i have no problems. with the pc you can mess up your syringe if not done right i believe.

rust has no harmful effects on mycelia growth.  I sterilize my empty syringes before sucking up 12 ml of liquid culture with boiling water everytime.  I just suck and spit boiling water out of the syringe 4 or 5 times.  Put the cap on, Take cap off when ready to use, wipe with alcohol swab, suck up solution, wipe with alcohol again right before inoculation.  0 contams :smile:
